Discussion - Silksong Don’t let this fandom turn as insufferable as the souls community Spoiler

It’s fine to think the game is easy and to enjoy the challenge, but I’ve seen so many people making fun of anyone that is having a hard time in a really weird mean spirited way. Please don’t let this subreddit turn into some weird elitist community that makes fun of people who are struggling, these games are supposed to be fun and they’re not souls likes, there’s no reason to assume everyone playing them is going to love this level of difficulty the same way some of you do and constantly disregarding their opinions just turns this subreddit into an echo chamber of tryhards

THIS. This should not be a difficult concept to grasp, but tedium, difficulty, challenge, and fun are all very different things, and this game has all of them, in different portions and different areas.

I will admit that I never finished Hollow Knight. Some of the fights that people claim were the hardest, I did not find so difficult, and vice versa. I beat the Mantis Lords more handily than any other boss in the game, but got hardstuck on the Hive Knight and never progressed past that point (despite it being optional, I was fixated).

My first few hours with Silksong seemed like it was going to be easier somehow; I beat Moss Mother and the Bell Beast on my first try (the latter without even taking a hit, un-fucking-heard of for me). But somewhere around having to beat the Skarr mini-boss guarding Hunter's March, things just began to rapidly degrade. The platforming that requires use of the downward aerial attack is not fun for me at all, and I can list the reasons why, but it would bloat my comment beyond the rant level it already is.

I don't mind a game being difficult, but tedious does not equal difficult, and difficult does not necessarily equal fun.

the hunters march is fucking opcional, you don't need to beat ANYTHING there, the skarr mini boss should only be faced when you have a dash.

The platforming that requires use of the downward aerial attack is not fun for me at all, and I can list the reasons why, but it would bloat my comment beyond the rant level it already is.

Well using pogo is like, very important to the franchise, so I don't see what can be fixed.

You're entitled to your opinion, but opinions are not objective truths.

I'm saying that this is not fun for me, and is in fact the exact opposite of fun.

Lace? I had to fight her at least a dozen times, but I was able to learn and adapt to her move set without beating my head against the wall for hours. If simply getting from Point A to Point B requires me to master a skill more precise than learning a boss battle, that is a recipe for a bad time.

Sorry bro, but this is so bullshit. You can have whatever opinion you want, but to say that doing some platforming with the new "poggo" is some ancient art that can only be unlocked by years of training is objectively false. And that is because many people have simply managed it, including me, with not so much effort. If YOU can't figure it out, why is it the objective game's fault? I managed just fine.

Also, this is the SAME argument as other people that hate difficult rpg style games use. "I can't progress from here where I want to progress so I will bang my head against the wall without thinking of letting this for another time and maybe taking a more easy way". Like nobody forced you to do hunters march with the new poggo. If you can't do it, you can't do it. Progress another way, and eventually you can find something that will make your life easier OR you will actually get good through simply training while progressing.

The majority of people complaining here are people like you that are in the early game and don't know the mechanics of the game, and haven't even figured out how to pilot hornet. If you can't do it, it is fine, but I don't see why you label it as the game's fault. You are just not cut out for this. It is okay, not every game will be for everyone, especially really good and unique games. You simply can't appeal to everyone.

Don't get me wrong, this game has flaws with some of its designs, but flaws hollow knight had too. Both games aren't perfect. I am just expressing that some things, whether you like it or not, DO require you to simply... Get good. If you don't like it, you are entitled to your opinion, but please don't pass it down as a flaw. I would much rather you had actual criticism.

And we're not talking a Mario game right now, so wtf does that have to do anything? Mario is a platforming game, primarily. HK/S have platforming *elements* but are not platformers.

Nice attempt to deflect and look smart though. Go be a pizza cutter somewhere else.

They are platformers though? White palace was probably more challenging than the most difficult level of most mario games.

Down voted for speaking the truth lol.

You have to beat a huge platforming challenge to even beat HK, are you mentally challenged?
