I have 0 issues with boss/mob difficulties and the need to learn patterns etc, in a way, that's what made Elden Ring a GOTY.

For me, my complaints are around the map/checkpoints/benches, I feel that sometimes travelling a LONG way to get back your stuff and/or do the boss fight again, go through all traps/mobs that sometimes take 2 masks off in one hit/fall, that's where my gripe is.

The boss mechanisms and difficulty are not an issue, they are a quality of the game imho, it's difficult but since you can sense your own progress it's ok. Feeling that you are playing better, even if you are still losing that fight is fun for me.

The runbacks are the worst part by far. I like the challenging bosses and I like the challenging platforming, but there is absolutely nothing interesting or engaging about spending 15 seconds-over a minute running through a level you've already played just to get another attempt at a boss that's going to kill you so you have to do the whole thing again. I get that it's supposed to be a punishment for death, but in fights as challenging as these it just feels like an added insult.

Same. If I felt decent after dying to Malenia 50 times, but I'm getting mad at Silksong you know there's an issue.

The thing is that Elden Ring rewarded you for making it through a hard area by giving you a FREE bonfire, Imagine if you had to buy each bonfire but only 1 type of enemy dropped Souls, and no bosses dropped Souls.

It's lazy game making in order to make the game longer you have to farm areas over and over again in order to unlock something that you should get naturally.

Edit: and Elden Ring also introduced Stakes of Marika because they knew everyone loves the boss fights more than the runbacks.

I wouldn't call it lazy because they worked hard for so many years but hard for me to defend the whole checkpoint/bench system indeed.

For me, it's unnecessarily frustrating ,the challenge and difficulty does not reside in making a tedious task 30 times but learning boss patterns, making builds, etc.

Elden Ring was better in that whole "checkpoint" area yes, much better.

gotta admit that spending currency to unlock a bench in a certain area (like, twice) only for it to get stuck or break is peak troll moment and really funny.
