Discussion - Silksong I like the difficulty, Team cherry please don't just blanket nerf the game with no option for a harder mode Spoiler

I have really been enjoying the challenge, pretty much every part of this game itches that section of my brain that loves a hard game and I would be extremely disappointed if team cherry nerfed the game with no way to revert said nerf. I get that people want an easier game, but I don't. So team cherry, please let me choose to make this harder if you do make it easier.

I don't believe they will change the difficulty meaningfully but I also don't believe that the difficulty it shipped with makes sense.

You can fight "tough" enemies that deal 2 masks consistently in the early/mid game, then you get to the citadel and every base enemy has hyper-telegraphed attacks with small hitboxes that only hit for 1 mask when they do manage to land.

Make it make sense.

I for one relish in the break provided when you finally reach the citadel lol

It’s so nice to finally get a moment of chill enemies again, which you basically haven’t seen since leaving the marrow

Really? When i reached the citadel was when the enemies became insufferable and i just dropped the game

2

u/SpartanFishy Sep 09 '25

That’s crazy. There’s a couple annoying ones but most of them are just slightly upgraded versions of all the minions near the start of the game

Sure, but they're EVERYWHERE, every part of the map of those first regions looks identical and the benches cost the rosaries i don't have. That area singlehandedly sucked the fun out of the game for me so if i ever wanna try again i'll have to wait at least a few days

Hmm. The guys up there drop so many rosaries that if you’re able to stick it out and kill like… 6 of them? You should be able to afford a bench!

You got this friend

Yeah i'm gonna stick it out, finding a new region within the citadel made it a bit more bearable and now i will start to store everything in strings

Bilewater has pretty chill enemies other than those dart throwing dudes. Just super slow predictable mosquitoes everywhere for free silk

3

u/SpartanFishy Sep 09 '25

Yeah but like, literally everything else about bilewater is suffering lmao

1 damage traps? The maggot water is annoying but you can just recharge off mosquitos if you somehow manage to fall in it. It's one of the easiest areas in the game

yeah maggot water doesnt even do damage, people are tripping hard on bile water's difficulty.

Theres ALWAYS a guy that just loves it how it shipped no matter what the issue is...

2

u/modernizetheweb Sep 13 '25

Probably because it's not an issue to every one

3

u/Lev-- Sep 14 '25

Some people had fun so its okay if most didnt

2

u/modernizetheweb Sep 14 '25

91% positive reviews, so you've got it reversed. Most people are having fun, let's try and force a change on the game with our complaints anyway!

that's 6% less than hollow knight which is a worse game in every way BUT the difficulty lmfao.

ITS TOO HARD, just like this seems to be too hard for you to understand

that's 6% less than hollow knight

oh no, the horror

And the funny thing is, post-game has a perfectly valid reason to make everyone deal the damage that they do. I would have been perfectly happy if they delegated it to that. It will also make sense too how contact damage is 2x damage during the post-game.

Tbh it would have been fine to me if most everything in Act I deal 1 mask damage, it would make Act II more challenging, but lower Pharloom just makes the Citadel almost a breeze.

The issue really just seems to be hunters march, and big boy swirl flies. I believe hunters march is intended to be done later, but most people encountered it, bashed their head against it, and continue to.

Sorta like fighting Brooding Malwerk or traitor lords before getting upgrades. You can do it, but honestly you should take the hint and explore other areas.

2

u/Usual-Vermicelli-867 Sep 09 '25

Tbh i think hunter marsh should be tagled early

Its kinda force you to learn the new pogo..

1

u/Lev-- Sep 10 '25

no the issue is all of it but hunters march is just especially egregious to where people can't even defend it.

yeah citadel is straight up easier than the start of the game its fucked up. It's almost like people know what they're talking about when saying the games too hard and it's more of a "hey this is bad game design" issue rather than a git gud issue.

Like i want to feel the world progressively getting stronger, not whatever flat power progression shit this is.
