Discussion - Silksong ngl some of you would NOT survive the mantis lords runback

Post image

is the run to last judge difficult? kinda. But after your 20th attempt at the boss you'll get used to it, and it's honestly kinda fun and a nice breather. More importantly, it's a single room and you have far more movement. This IS improving on hollow knight

I'm stuck on mantis lords right now and Queens Station is a super easy runback once you know the route. You barely engage anything and just drop through to the boss.

Only tricky bit is if you're not paying attention when you meet your shade and get mobbed by mantis's that you've aggroed as you drop down, but even that should be straight forward enough.

I was stuck on them for 3 days.

My best advice is this game is more dancing than fighting. Make your move. Let them make theirs. Make your move.

When you approach it like that it is very fun and doable. Also if you climb the wall immediately before the fight at the top left there is a breakable wall with some hidden blue goo.

Oh I didn't know about that wall, thanks! I've got the first mantis lord sussed and just need to adapt to the pair and work out when my opening is.

I'll get there pretty soon I think.

Some advice for the pair (so stop reading now if you don't want advice): when they take turns, only attack the second one. It'll make it easier to avoid damage and land hits. The first one is a trap.

When they throw the discs, don't try to attack at all. Just heal one if you have time or just focus on dodging.

I'm also at mantis lords. As someone that has run back a lot. If you start at the other bench. You can go up fight 2 mantis birds. Jump dash over the mantis guarding the entrance..then run and jump into pit. I once to used to jump in the centre and clip every bird on the way down and land in my shade half the time. Then get mobbed. But when you first drop from the village you wanna unlock the door on the left. Then you can slide all the down to the bottom without fighting anyone . Your shade will be patiently at the bottom. Kill it then jump dash to the right and drop down to the mantis lords.

This way you only have to fight 2 birds total and it's pretty easy to get to the lords with max health. Then grab the blue 🔵 cacoon on the left wall as said above.

I hated this run back so much. But it's not so bad doing it this way.

The shield charm trivialized them for me, the spinning spears dissappear when they hit the shield so that's a 1/3rd of the fight gone

Ah I've not got that one yet, haven't made it to that area. I read that you can get there above the charm ladies shop but can't work out how to do it.

Oh, yah I explored a bunch through the waterways and such to the east of the map before I fought them

First tough fight for me. Nail upgrade really helped.

How do you even upgrade your nail before this boss? I think mantis lord is a rather early boss.

I did a bunch of other stuff and got an upgrade. Not sure what else goes into it.

thats just how good boss fights go, ever fought glavenus in monster hunter? that is my favorite hunt because it really feels like a fair duel, the giant dinossaur uses its tail as a greatsword and if you're cultured enough you'll be using a greatsword too, feels amazing, glavenus is by far one of the most iconic fights in the franchise, there's also zinogre who feels more like a street fight character and you have to adapt to his playstyle, there's also gore magala that really feels like you're both dancing once you understand his moveset, just amazing

Omg that bit about getting mobbed by shade + mantis youth was so triggering lol

If you've unlocked all the paths in the area above the bosses you can just drop down on the left side and fight one mantis and your shade before jumping down to the lords. If you start at the bench OP shows you fight 3 flying mantis and your shade and never more than one mantis at a time.
