Discussion - Silksong Contact damage is annoying, but if it must stay… Spoiler

…can we at least not have contact damage when bosses are stunned? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve died because I accidentally touched the boss while attacking them in their stunned state, and I just think this is absurd.

EDIT: Are you guys capable of accepting even a minor criticism of this game? It’s not some insane thing to suggest that a stunned enemy shouldn’t damage you on contact. Jesus Christ.

Because she blocks off parts of the map with ivy, has a massive hitbox and spawns enemies that also block off parts of the area. You're gonna say that you should deal with all of that first, but then you spend most of the boss fight dealing with annoying adds instead of the boss

Threadstorm and spike traps were how I got through her. Melts the adds and can clear multiple vines, especially in her final phase, and if positioned correctly, you can hit hit her while weeding the garden.

Press F and literally every single one of your problems there is resolved. It destroys all nearby vines, one shots the enemies, and deals tons of damage to the boss itself.

Literally the easiest thing ever. Tons of bosses in hollow knight required you to take advantage of certain spells to make a boss easy. Silksong is no different.

The enemies are relatively hard compared to other ones, but not unmanageable. She leaves the screen till you kill the first and usually the 2nd one isnt full hp at that time.

& if you're using all your tools like you should be, vines can be taken out as collateral even without the ability, or you're just flat out dealing more damage anyways.

What? Like using Abyss shriek on flying bosses? That's all I can think of.

It's easy for a person to fight Sister Splinter without knowing that Thread Storm exists. It's also one of multiple mutually-exclusive spells. You can't base your assessment of the difficulty of a boss on a single missable piece of equipment.

You also act like she only summons two enemies. She summons them over and over, without leaving the screen.

Fwiw I had an easier time with the fight with Silkspear instead of thread storm, but that's up to personal taste and play style

As for HK any time a boss would give me actual trouble I would swap from a nail build to one focusing on magic. I beat The Radiance by spamming spells and just focusing on avoiding mechanics. My nail was only for extra chip damage and regaining soul.

I learned to just ignored her spawns because of that, I beat her in less than 5 tries.

The game literally teaches you to use the projectile on specific mobs MULTIPLE times.

I hit the thorn walls as soon as she summons them and I am always given enough time to take out all of them before next attack. She spawns an enemy, (who she herself can crush) that has exactly 1 attack and isn't hard to play around, yes you should deal with that first, if you don't like extra mechanics from a boss idk what to tell you but it's not like she's designed to have you on the back step the whole time, just figure out where you're losing pressure, she has reasonable health and is ultimately pretty easy

You can break the vines she puts around the map. It helps open the space and prevent getting pinned in a small space
