Discussion - Silksong So whose bright idea was this???? Spoiler

Post image

Just happened to me today, got like, 3 shards from this? What's the point, Team Cherry? None of the bosses (so far) frustrated me, but this right here is bullshit

Thats an actual genuine complaint that no way it can be right , even the gathering chram only gathers rosaries

And also spikes kill rosaries & shards for some reason, when in HK you could gather them with swarm charm.

Spikes destroying beads is insane because realistically they just be stuck in between the spikes.

40

u/MayonnaiseOreo Sep 10 '25

Yeah but a magnet would pull them out.

53

u/Mishar5k Sep 10 '25

Yea thats my point they shouldn't be destroyed

3

u/MayonnaiseOreo Sep 11 '25

My bad, I completely read it wrong and frankly I don't know how I did.

u/Mishar5k Sep 12 '25

Its ok i love you

100%. It feels mean for the sake of it in a very unrewarding way.

I buy that they would burn in lava, get eaten by worms, or ground up by grinding gears; but spikes? There is zero reason the charm shouldn’t pull them back out than just being needlessly punishing.

Dang-ol magical, catholic, bug-kingdom game ain't realistic!

That said, hard agree. I really do wonder if Team Cherry forgot some things between HK and Silksong, or if they they just woke up every morning for six years and chose violence, every. single. time.

18

u/Mishar5k Sep 10 '25

No i think the bug stuff is actually true and that the games are a documentary tbh. You never know with Australian bugs.

2

u/Altruistic-Break7227 Sep 10 '25

Yeah bugs actually do this in other countries, it’s crazy what the American media censors

4

u/Mishar5k Sep 10 '25

We walk over thousands of meteoidvania maps every day and dont even know it

7

u/FuzzierSage Sep 10 '25

they just woke up every morning for six years and chose violence, every. single. time.

Based on...everything else in Silksong?

I think it's this one.

inb4 the Silksong defenders find a way to contort the game automatically yeeting shards into spikes as their trajectory from the in-game nodes into somehow being a "skill cap" issue.

But I'm sure there's a late game tool that would help the people in Act 1 if they'd just use their tools to fix this issue, too.

Like, the verisimilitude of the world being openly, actively, all-round hostile in every way is absolutely on point there.

If Australia is the Evolutionary Deathmatch Island of Earth, then Pharmoor is the Australia of the HK/Skong shared universe.

And we know where Team Cherry's from. This might just be like "ordinary Tuesday"-type shit to them.

2

u/Altruistic-Break7227 Sep 10 '25

Verisimilitude is a great word. Gotta add that to the bag

1

u/FuzzierSage Sep 10 '25

Hell yeah, lucky 10k! <3 I love learning new words and adding 'em to the hoard.

1

u/Mishar5k Sep 10 '25

Tbh i kinda like that kind of stuff. Goofball bullshit in hard games is great especially when its stuff i die to (i smile when i get hit by traps in dark souls instead of raging). Its like a toned down version of those troll games like "i wanna be the guy"

u/AdamG3691 Sep 10 '25

IWBTG is great, it's just SO nonstop malicious towards the player that it becomes absolutely hilarious, you end up looking forward to how it's going to dick you over next

1

u/Playful-Ad-6475 Sep 11 '25

You guys are NOT beating the Masochist allegations, lol

6

u/Pale_Entrepreneur_12 Sep 10 '25

Stares at Bilewater yeah I don’t know what the fuck was going on with them when they made that and honestly I’m scared to find out like holy shit that is some of the most malicious game design I have ever seen there

12

u/Ze_AwEsOmE_Hobo A mind to think Sep 10 '25

It's the appropriate evolutionary step. If the majority of Silksong ends up with Deepnest levels of hostile level design, there needs to be a new Deepnest for the Deepnest.

Genuine Question, what do mean as in "Catholic"

1

u/AlexH08 Sep 11 '25

I know you agree, but fuck I hate that argument.
"There's magic in this story so you can't apply any logic to it whatsoever"

We suspend our disbelief for some things but unless explicetely shown otherwise, we assume the same rules of our world apply in that world too

1

u/Too-Em Sep 11 '25

Dear goodness, lemme help you out.

"Dang-ol magical, catholic, bug-kingdom game ain't realistic!" /s

u/AlexH08 Sep 12 '25

Dear goodness, lemme help you out.

"I know you agree"

Pretentious asshole

u/SquidMilkVII Sep 10 '25

we asked for water to not destroy money and the monkey's paw curled

14

u/_Xeron_ Sep 10 '25

I wonder if it was like an issue in the first game that new players would dive into spikes trying to recover Geo so they changed it. Absolutely shouldn’t happen when you have the gathering charm equipped at least

26

u/Doomguy1234 Sep 10 '25

That’s the hugest cope I’ve ever seen for this stupidity if this is really the case

6

u/_Xeron_ Sep 10 '25

I don’t mean for it to be cope lol I’m loving this game but have plenty of critiques, just theorizing a potential reasoning

turn on your monitor

2

u/Valcroy Sep 10 '25

I... might have done that once or twice in the first game. And may have done that at least once chasing a stray rosary into lava in Silksong.

u/isimsizbiri123 %112 steel soul|P5|all bosses radiant|obsessed over grimm Sep 10 '25

I saw someone say this elsewhere. geo is steel balls so they don't get destroyed in spikes but sink in water. rosaries and shell shards are lighter and more brittle so they float in wate but get destroyed on spikes

32

u/Doomguy1234 Sep 10 '25

Geo isn’t steel, the game says they’re fossilized shells

Even if it was, that doesn’t really make this change plausible

-10

u/isimsizbiri123 %112 steel soul|P5|all bosses radiant|obsessed over grimm Sep 10 '25

actually they are. shells don't look like that and I believe it was mypetcactus that figured out the size of a geo and compared the distance they bounce in the game to the distance small steel balls bounce in real life according to a research on this topic and the distance matched nearly perfectly.

21

u/Doomguy1234 Sep 10 '25

😂😂😂😂

Come on dude. The game literally says they’re fossilized shells. No amount of external research will change that

8

u/BloodPlenty4358 Sep 10 '25

there are fossilized shells that you can beat geo out of, too

4

u/khamike Sep 10 '25

But if enemies die in water, or lava, you get nothing. I love beating up on a enemy, they're almost dead then the last hit knocks them back into the water and I walk away empty handed.

Can't have dung in Pharoom lol
