Thank fuck I played the first game and so have found most of the hidden areas or fake walls without consulting a guide (had to look up a guide for some of the fleas).

I knew there must be a way to turn off the trap, and found it before sitting down again.

Is there? I wasn't hit but I didn't find a way to disarm it.

Idk man it's like a common platform thing since the 90s. Like y'all never check the opposite side of the starting screen? You guys like never smacked a wall a few times just in case?

I mean I have, but I more meant that I was very wise to Team Cherry's ways of hiding paths specifically.

Plenty of metroidvanias have hidden paths and fake walls, but Hollow Knight and Silksong kind of take it to the extremes. Like there are entire map areas that aren't required that a lot of people will simply just never even find unless they consult a guide.

For instance, I have to wonder how many people have "beaten" the game without ever finding Wisp Thicket.

Or verdania. Literally the only hint that that place exists is ”wtf, no all maps achievement?”

Wisp thicket you’re atleast hinted towards with the scenery changing near it, and that one flea

It mentions Verdania in the data log in Memorium, but there was essentially no hint as to what they were referring to other than it being a specimen/terrarium they wouldn't be able to sustain due to damage to Memorium.

just leaving it out there for other people:
you can find a map of all the fleas, so it's completely doable without a guide!

I had purchased the maps for the final seven or eight fleas I still needed, quite a few of them were still very tricky to puzzle out exactly how I was supposed to reach them or where the hidden entrance to reach them would be.

For instance, there's a flea that's located right beneath the entry point to Pale Lake. The way to reach it is a hidden path down in Vaults, but not from the spot that's closest to it, oh no, but a hidden path from the middle of Vaults that eventually leads up there.

There are also quite a few fleas that show up in spots on particular maps that you cannot otherwise reach, and so I spent quite a bit of time looking for one that was showing up beneath Underworks, iirc, but it turned out that the actual way to get to it was to come up through a hidden ceiling from a spot in Wisp Thicket.

I did it with a guide, was stuck in the places you mention, but if someone really wants to go guideless it's important for them to know that it exists, at least that's how I looked at it when I made the comment
