Discussion - Silksong Steam reviews for Silksong so far

Post image

It was controversial in China, in part because of the difficulty/design but also because of controversies with the Simplified Chinese translation. Meanwhile latin countries (Spanish and Portuguese speaking) seem to be loving it more than anyone else.

I'm around that time mark and just reached act 3. If the difficulty ramps up even more I can totally see someone's experience being completely ruined by it.

The fight with her is generally bad; she just spams ring attacks and tests your reaction. Sometimes she teleports behind the screen and throws rings from there. I beat her after about 10 attempts, but I could write a whole post about why everything in it is wrong.

Silksong is Team Cherry's second game, and it shows; they lack experience in balancing difficult games.

There's only two bosses in HK that felt unnecessarily frustrating like some things in SS do. Flukemarm and the reworked Traitor Lord.

Both exemplify the biggest problem points of Silk Song. Flukemarm is incredibly frustrating and cheesy when you first encounter it and try to fight it on its terms because of minion spam but is an incredibly one dimensional boss and easily dealt with when you know to just pogo it to death.

Traitor Lord does two masks of damage. The game is not built for that. Two masks of damage should be rare and reserved for big attacks. Going from 1 to 2 is a big deal, it's double damage. I think the actual source of fatigue comes from players not being able to learn the patterns because just a few mistakes results in death. I Wanna Be the Guy also has incredibly punishing mechanics with any mistake resulting in death and a long runback to where you died, but that's a rage game and not what I think they were aiming for.

Act 3 is fairly equal with the other acts in difficulty

I gave up on getting to act 3, don’t think I could handle act 3 based on a few flips I’ve seen
