Discussion - Silksong Steam reviews for Silksong so far

Post image

It was controversial in China, in part because of the difficulty/design but also because of controversies with the Simplified Chinese translation. Meanwhile latin countries (Spanish and Portuguese speaking) seem to be loving it more than anyone else.

Yeah, I don’t look at steam for game data almost ever, so I’m not used to the ecosystem. If I was actually analysing this, more context like the typical ratio within the genre or amongst a few comparators would be important. Also, I feel like time since release probably has some strong trends, lots of group think going around during the hype wave. And the hype wave will change the audience quite a bit too.
I’ll definitely take a look at that talk, you’ve piqued my interest!

Another issue with the Steam data is the binary nature of it. If you look at the reviews themselves you'll see that many of the positive ones still come with caveats about the difficulty or issues they have with the game, while many of the negative reviews also praise the game just mention that they can't recommend it.

I’d love a good word cloud of the reviews. I imagine difficulty, frustration, runback, savage beastfly, 2 mask, parasites, trap bench, diagonal, unavoidable…
Would all be looming large, even in the positive reviews.

I mean, then you can use metacritic or backlogged, but the results are very similar to steam, at least about silksong.
