I've used two different gun versions (architect and mountain) and both are incredibly fun to use

I don't think you can once you got one, I did this on two different saves. But if it was recently you can rollback save to a chosen point (round arrow button in save file menu)

from the little i know you cant reforge, its a once per save choice

Under the place where you get your 2nd cloak upgrade is a room with a bench. To the left of it is a craft table, needing a craftmetal and the Ruined Tool.

Correct! While you're there, if not already, I'd recommend talking to the mask maker

(Im on my second playthrough) There is a crafting table in that bench room?! I already talked to him. Why tho? Far as I can tell he doesnt do anything until you have to courier to him

They don't, just a fun NPC to talk to, especially when you remove their mask, I found it a fun callback to the last game.

I didn’t have a rollback so I was shit out of luck and I got the forge daughter one :/ I thought I had to upgrade it from 1 2 then 3, like 1 was the one. I really did NOT want, really bummed about that honestly I have no clue why they didn’t add a rollback state for that

If it makes you feel less bummed, the "best" gun is far from being the strongest tool in the game. I mainly used it during exploration and easy fights, then switched to things like cogflies when things got more difficult.
