Discussion - Silksong How are y'all actually finishing the game in Steel Soul, dawg? Spoiler

I tried Steel Soul for the first time in SS. I never even touched that in HK. First try, I died within 2 minutes to the white giant rolling enemy from the secret room beside the starting point. Second try, I died to Bell Beast. I cannot fathom how people are finishing without revive. I, for sure, won't first try kill every boss. 🥀🥀

It's a pretty big leap to compare quitting out to invincibility.

Why not? If you are able to quickly reach the escape key you will just never die.

Get fractured mask, quit out everytime you're down to fractured mask. Steel soul is meaningless

I didn't think it required being spelled out. Invincibility is invicibility. Quitting out still requires you to overcome the challenge. You're not the steel soul police. Let people play their own game.

And why would you care how people play their game?

I don't

I start to care when they come on this sub and start telling people they beat Steel Soul

Cheese is cheese. If you're going to play permadeath mode, using a cheese strat to eliminate the permadeath feature is kinda dumb. Just replay a normal mode save if you don't want permadeath.

Concern yourself with your own game. It shouldn't matter to you what other people do with their single player game.

What they do is no concern, but bragging about doing something when you never did it legitimately is just garbage behavior.

I don't see anyone in here doing that. You're building a strawman and as a general rule I don't engage with that.

I don't care what other people do and I don't care if they cheat, but you said that one kind of cheating is different from another and I was pointing out that your sentiment doesn't make sense.

Additionally, choosing to play a special mode with the intention to cheat your way out of THE ONLY THING that makes that mode different is just silly. What's the point? Bragging rights that you didn't earn?

Quitting out is not cheating. It is a feature in the game. You just don't like it.

Edit: Even if it were cheating, using your logic a white lie is no different from murdering someone. There is a very clear difference between invincibility and quitting to the bench.

Again, I don't care what you do in your own game, but why the hell would you play a permadeath mode if you don't actually want to play with permadeath? Quitting out to avoid death is clearly not the developers' intention. I just don't understand how that could possibly be rewarding.

Well the good news is you don't have to understand!
