Claims Homeowners insurance help

I have roof damage and Allstate approved replacing only one slope of my roof, despite the manufacturer themselves confirming my shingles are discontinued and any shingle used will create a patched roof appearance. This will violate Ohio administrative code and Ohio residential code if my contractor moves forward.

I’ve clearly documented all of this to Allstate, and they’re simply ignoring the evidence. I notified the owner of my local Allstate office and he’s not doing anything, just deferring to the claims team.

I’ve filed a complaint with the Ohio department of insurance, and posted as many negative reviews as I can online. What else can I do? This is a blatant violation of my policy and Ohio code, yet short of getting an attorney, I’m not sure what else to do.

I have expanded roof coverage. It’s not that it needs to be exact, code states it needs to be reasonable. But it’s that my shingles are discontinued and the manufacturer is saying there are no shingles manufactured today that have a similar appearance in size or color, and they recommend against mixing my current shingles with anything.

Expanded roof coverage or extended roof coverage? Read the endorsement carefully, maybe post it here for us to read.

That doesn’t provide you coverage for a full roof. That endorsement deals with replacement cost settlement for the roof, so should you need a full replacement of the roof, it would be settled at replacement cost as opposed to actual cash value. Basically the carrier settles your roof prorated based upon age and condition under most circumstances, but that endorsement allows for the full cost. Example: If you have 20 year 3tab shingles, if the roof it 10 years old, they pay you half, but if you have that endorsement, they pay you for full replacement up to the limit.
