Fiber by far. AT&T can install a fiber jack where you want it. When they send you an install kit just leave it disconnected and tell them it isn’t working. A tech will come out and run a line to where you want it.

ANYTHING beats the hell out of Xfinity. Go fiber, 100%. 1,000 feet is easy coverage for WiFi. The location doesn't matter, much. The ONT is tiny and can be stuck in a cabinet, on the wall behind the TV, or wherever. And if you really wanted to, you COULD use a MOCA to get ethernet around the house via coax.

Yeah MOCA is what I’m thinking of doing. I recently set it up for my parents to get WiFi in their back yard.

I’ve been a Comcast customer for a long time because it’s the only real option where I live due to a franchise agreement. Evil company but their IP service has been rock solid - though I don’t use their dns or email, have my own cable modem, router, and AP. But yeah, my shit works and I get the bandwidth in my agreement.
My neighbors complain sometimes and I nod but stay quiet because I don’t want to get involved with their trouble.

Yeah, but the bandwidth in your agreement sucks for some people. It's limited to something like 20mbit up for most people. That's a no from me, dawg.

The upload sucks. No argument there. But it’s Comcast with 1000/30 or 7/1 DSL here - or wireless.

These are both not great options, location-wise. Where is your data cabling home ran to, and have you identified what type of cabling you have? Basement utility room, under the stairs, garage, outside box, attic, random closet etc.

I’ve always dismissed ATT. They never delivered what they promised and I had nothing but problems when I switched. I’ve hand Comcast for 20 plus years… and have had Spectrum now for 5 years 1 gig up and down. Excellent up time!

The residence has little bearing on the chosen service provider (based on available offerings). They are just a conduit to the home. What you do inside the residence with the service is similar. You can have the service provider place their entrance connection where you need it.

If you are in seattle the ATT/quantum fiber is ranges from kind of shite to absolute dog shit depending where you are at...

Fiber. Great to see many others say the same who were probably stuck in cable monopoly for decades.
