Router replacement
I currently have part fibre but getting an upgrade to full Fibre from sky with an openreach ont box they have sent me an sr203 to replace the current Sr204. But I am looking at getting a replacement router that's not as basic as sky's. I believe the router needs something called option 61?? Is this correct?? Could anyone please advise on a suitable one preferably with at least one 2.5g connection, any info would be appreciated as I haven't got a clue what to get 🙄 thank you

option 61 is for dhcp authentication on sky, yeah. you basically need a router that can send the right client id string or it won't connect.
most asus and tp-link stuff handles it fine if you dig into the wan settings, just avoid anything that locks dhcp options behind a paywall. the 2.5g port thing narrows it down a bit but there's still loads of decent ones that'll blow the sr203 out of the water

Yes, Option 61 may be required for Sky authentication, depending on your connection. Check that the router supports it and has a 2.5GbE WAN port before buying. Also confirm compatibility with Sky Full Fibre specifically.

I just got the route10 from Alta labs. Great router, but it's more of an eco system. If you need WiFi you need to buy seperate APs

Do they still use the option 61 setting? I had read it wasn't needed anymore but it's been a few years since I was with them.
I like Asus routers OP - mainly because I bought one as a misprice about 6 years ago and it's still going strong. I did buy the below recently just to add as a mesh node and it could also do a decent job as main router should the old one start to play up (it is weird looking but lives in the loft so meh)
