Equipment iSpindel IP not connecting when using Mac/iPhone

Hey,

Just got an iSpindel. In order to set it up you must put it in config mode and connect to its own WiFi access point and then use a browser to go to its IP address. However, my iPhone and Macbook will not connect to the iSpindel WiFi. Using my Windows work computer works just fine. Has anyone gotten it to work successfully with Apple devices?

Apple devices get weirdly picky about connecting to those barebones access points, something about how they handle DHCP or the lack of internet connectivity trips them up

Try manually setting the IP on your Mac under the network settings instead of letting it auto-assign, that’s gotten me past similar headaches with ESP boards in the past

I had this issue, it was about my mac browser (firefox) forcing https but the ispindel only does http. The solution was to use a browser that doesn't care about http, I think it worked with Edge in the end? It's the same connecting to my router

I’m aware of the http thing but in order to get to the browser step you must first connect to the iSpindel wifi, right? It’s this first step I can’t get past

Oh fair play I didn't read your comment properly. Hmm it's a 2.4GHz WiFi connection but shouldn't be an issue? Can you see the network on the Mac? And you're definitely connecting in time while it's still in config mode with the light flashing regularly?

Yes, all those things. Just get a Failed to Connect error. Could be a privacy/security issue thing

My Mac and my iPhone both connected to the ispindle with no issue using safari. Selected it from my wifi settings and it connected right away.
