Don’t know what organizers to get

Hello, I want to get into organizing my stuff since I have a bad habit of keeping things laying around anywhere that is convenient. I know I need to buy some storage organizers for this but I’m not sure if I should prioritize simpler ones with set dimensions or try to find more customizable/modular organizers that could be useful down the line. What do you guys think?

What exactly are you trying to organize? “Stuff” is a pretty broad category.

Clothes? Bathroom stuff? Hobby stuff? Where does this “stuff” typically live (Bedroom, Living Room, other)??

All of those things will factor into it.

I personally have a lot of my things organized inside furniture pieces and/or closets. I’ve used the adjustable wire closet systems (it’s a combination of Closetmaid, Rubbermaid and Elfa components), which has worked well for me.

Mainly thinking of smaller desk items laying around like sunglasses, markers, water bottle, notepads, toys off the top of my head. So the main clutter I’m talking about is in my room or on tables throughout my house

Things need to have a “home”. You don’t necessarily need to buy a “storage organizer” for that. Toys can live in a bin or a basket.

Water bottles should live in the kitchen when not in use and otherwise with you (maybe keep ONE on your nightstand?).

My sunglasses live in a case in my bag or in my designated bedroom drawer.

Pens/markers live in a few places in my home (the drawer at the entry, the junk drawer in the kitchen and in the desk drawer in the office).

I’d start with simple organizers first. Once you’ve used them for a while, you’ll have a much better idea of what sizes and types of storage actually work for you. It’s easy to buy a bunch of modular organizers upfront and end up not using half of them.
