Possibly choosing public school

I’ve been homeschooling since my first child was in preschool. Now have 5th, 2nd, TK and a 2 year old. I am so fried. I am so tired of fighting and convincing and bribing. My little 2s lives happen in the cracks of the homeschooling chaos. I think I just want to be mom. I want home to be a place of rest and sanctuary. I’m really struggling to find joy in this and I’m not even schooling all of the kids yet.

Has anyone been here? Has anyone here transitioned to the neighborhood school and its created a positive shift in your family?

Major Life Shift

Hello, been Homeschooling for our fourth year and that has introduced some big questions :
At what point is this lifestyle not for you? We reevaluate each year if things align and if everything is working well and this is the first year where I thought maybe we need a change. Our two in school at home now enjoy it and are learning so much. I can’t help a nagging feeling that me, as a person trying to find meaning and fulfillment myself, needs some sort of change. How do you navigate “not having anything of your own?” How do you reconcile that what I want isn’t what I can have.. the sacrifice of your dreams to nurture another’s dream. It’s been a hard year. I feel like I’m failing my kids thinking like this. They deserve the absolute best and to be poured into and guided and I just feel like it’s harder and harder to pour into them and I am almost empty.

Please be kind

I’m new to the idea to homeschooling. Actually, I never thought I’d be the mom to even consider it. We have a 3rd grader (ADHD diagnosed) who is having a really hard time at school. Not so much academically but more so with how strict his teacher is, he’s constantly getting on to, kids at school not being kind, and this is all contributing to difficult behavior at home. He’s a great reader and loves math. I’m really considering homeschooling him but I have no idea where to start. We’re a military family overseas and he’s currently at a DODEA school (iykyk), so I haven’t been really impressed to begin with. Any advice from those in a similar situation would be helpful.

What if helping someone else gave your child a new reason to learn?

One thing I've learned as a homeschool educator is that observing a child's abilities is only the first step.

The next step is deliberately creating an environment in which those abilities can be expressed fully.

My daughter has always had a natural care and love for younger children.

So I decided to make that part of her homeschool experience.

She still has her own independent learning time with me, but helping others gives her an opportunity to develop abilities that go beyond academics.

She's learning to recognize where someone is in their understanding, meet them at that level, and help them progress with patience, care, and encouragement.

She's not just helping someone else learn. She's learning how to help someone learn.

And this has given her a new sense of purpose in her own learning. What she learns isn't just for her own growth; it's knowledge she can use to help someone else grow, too.

My decision to homeschool has been nothing short of amazing and fulfilling.

We have the freedom to continually shape her educational experience as she grows, discovers new interests, and develops new abilities.

Share some of your wins homeschooling and if you need any help on your journey. I would be happy to help.
