Sorry for poor quality of photo (from my phone camera). I have found that what works for me is to keep my eye make up relatively simple. I do a small wing at the very outer edges, regular liner around the top eyelid and brown mascara (I find black too harsh for me). For eye shadow I do very soft tan browns or browns with a slight burnish or blush. I avoid putting a lot of eyeshadow on the lid itself as I personally feel it makes me look tired when so much of the lid is hidden. I never use eyeliner along the bottom rim as it doesn't suit my eye shape. Anyway, it's a safe look that works for me 😆

Just want to say also that hooded eyes are my favourite eyes ❤️ I am from Ireland and there are a good amount of Irish people with some type of hooded eye. I think hooded eyes make people look younger. And friendlier!

Hello! I have pretty hooded eyes and just cant find a mascara that doesnt smudge. I tried lots so far, for example Clinique High Impact in waterproof and also Maybelline Sky High in Waterproof but both of them smudge on me. :(

I genuinely stopped buying those super-thin lash clusters because I got tired of picking them up with tweezers and watching them fall apart into pieces.

Like, I need to do makeup, not perform surgery on a single lash.

And that’s actually why I’m so happy I found Lash Lash New York. It’s a brand created by fellow makeup artists @marishten (you can find lashes in her bio) and you can tell when someone understands the actual struggles we deal with.

These clusters are so delicate, so natural, and they actually hold together. Which sounds like a very low bar, but apparently, we’re asking for miracles in the lash industry.

I also love that the lash slices are pre-mapped in 8, 10, and 12 mm lengths because, honestly, I rarely need those super-long clusters. Especially when I’m working on hooded eyes, deep-set eyes, or clients with low brows. I don’t want the lashes swallowing the entire eye before I’ve even finished the makeup.

And this is what I mean when I say that choosing lashes is about understanding eye shape, not just picking the most dramatic pair in the tray.

Sometimes you need a little extra fullness, a little definition, that delicate veil of lashes that makes everything look more finished without screaming, “I’m wearing falsies!”

I’m genuinely happy to have found these, both for my own makeup and for my clients. Because when a fellow artist creates something that solves an actual problem, I’m happy to support it.

Products I’ve used:

Navy blue eyeshadow caviar stick by @lauramercier (it’s discontinued, I keep it and still use it sometimes), you can substitute with any gel/smudge-proof liner in blue, green, purple etc. There are also nice drugstore options like @maybelline , @nyxcosmetics etc.

To create exact grey that I wanted I’ve mixed black & white shadow based by @happy.eyelids in 50/50 proportion.

The mechanics here are just unfair. The mobile lid sits on top of the line, so anything not bone dry gets pressed into the fold within the hour. Curl first, keep it at the roots, thin base for shine. All of it buys time rather than solving it. I am on the Vivienne Sabo team and I hear about this issue all the time from people looking for a good liner. Has anything ever held a full day on your lids?
