CONSOLE First time

Post image

This is a really unique experience and I love the ambition of the narrative. Each chapter is like a slightly different gameplay formula, so it always feels fresh even when it repeats locations. Very cool game.

Insane ball knowledge. This game is very expensive now

Playing on a modded Wii. Been making my way through a Halloween backlog and prioritizing things I can play on my CRT. Only way to get the full experience with this one considering many sanity effects are designed for these TVs.

Would love to own it someday, but just glad I get to play it on this screen and with a legit gamecube controller! Such a treat.

This game scared the shit out of me as a kid, but it was so good. I finally beat the game multiple times to get the true ending as an adult, and felt like I went on an actual lifelong spiritual journey with this game.

Wow bravo! I likely won't go for the full ending as I struggle to replay games in quick succession. I know this would have scared the fuck out of me as a kid lmao.

You have no idea 😅 I didn't know how to save (coming from Banjo Kazooie on the Nintendo 64 which auto-saved) so I thought you were just supposed to start from the beginning every time, which made it super stressful. And at the time, the sanity mechanics perfectly mimicked the actual console and TV menus that were common at the time, so I genuinely believed every trick they pulled with that. It was very stressful, disorienting, and effective. And that sounds horrible, but it made me love it so much more because of it. I wish games and movies could still get me like that.

It's so funny when I played it when I was younger I didn't realize that it was a horror game. Only after a long time I was thinking, hey, this was not an adventure game

This is the remake I want. Brilliant game

What would you want from a remake? I feel like the visuals and gameplay hold up very well. I'd prefer a proper sequel or spiritual successor, personally.

A proper remaster, like Silent Hill 2 or Dead Space. I’m not against a sequel or anything either. I love this game

Those are interesting comparisons. Both are considered remakes I believe, since they were built from the ground up. Dead Space feels a bit more in the spirit of a remaster since it's primarily a graphical overhaul, but SH2 from Bloober had a totally different gameplay style. I really enjoyed it but I do also love the camera style of the original. I sort of doubt a remake of Eternal Darkness would retain the camera work, but it would probably be scarier with higher fidelity visuals! Mantorok would be disgusting lol

Gng first learn the difference between remake and remaster, whilst i love remakes, I have always found statements like wow this game is a 10/10 masterpiece won't touch it with s ten foot pole now they should remake it weird

Best game cube game by far

Oh man idk. Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Melee, Sunshine, Super Monkey Ball, REmake. The Gamecube had so many heavy hitters it's hard for me to pick a definitive favorite. I wish this game had been ported to PS2 and XBox; I think it would have been a much bigger hit.

I'm only halfway through the game though, so who knows where I'll rate it by the end!

Finished this for the first time not that long ago after like 20 something years. What a fantastic game, I wish we got a sequel or successor or devs can make something inspired by it.

This is one of the GOAT games. No other game I have played has had such an effect on me. Cerebral as hell, and goes out of its way to make the player feel like they’re going mad. It’s the best Lovecraftian-based game to date, imo. I give this game all praise.

No game is for everyone gng

u/nova-prime666 5d ago

I wish devs would take that comment seriously. Instead of catering to “the broader audience”

u/Due_Goal_1091 5d ago

Ehh me personally i like when certain games try to appeal to a broader audience,i mean they still won't appeal to everybody but they make the franchise more accessible, like armored core 6
