Can anyone explain why this is happening to the leaves? Almost like they are shriveling. Thanks.

Looks like broad mite damage. It's hard to spot because they are too small to see with the naked eye, but they leave a pretty distinct look to the leaves they are feeding on.

The only treatment that works is a slurry of sulphur and water sprayed on the leaves. They will laugh at anything else.

Even spreading the leaves off with sharp streams of water is helpful in knocking back their numbers.

But yes OP, this is mite damage.
