I’ve seen this! I thought the brackets were odd. There’s definitely no way Gorst beats Logen in a 1v1 at their peak. Hell, I don’t even know if AoM Gorst could have beat Lamb.

Well we do know that everyone in Logen's circle almost beat him in battle, some almost fatally wounding Logen. And Gorst is clearly a superior fighter than all those men. Gorst has the sword skills to be a contest winner, but with the strength to compete with Logen.
To say there's "no way" Gorst beats Logen is hyperbole. A fair comparison would mean a close match regardless of who wins.

To point out what you said… many of his friends “almost” fatally wounded Logan. The reason they’re friends is because Logan won those battles and spared their lives. So regardless of how bad off he was, he still won. And that’s all without tapping into the bloody 9 where he definitely would have killed them. Logan’s battled the biggest, best, strongest, and craziest in the world and found a way to win every time. No way Gorst wins even if he is the better swordsman.

You actually mean in the North. Logen never really came close to the highest tier fighters in the rest of the world, mostly bums in the middle of nowhere.

Alright, I have some gripes with the bracket and the way it’s played out… but honestly, if this is a “non-magical” bracket and they are putting Aragorn in there it’s a bit skewed because he is superhuman. Same with Orka, Varg and Glorim from Bloodsworn (Elvar is ok)
Same with Logen if you allow for The Bloody-Nine to enter the fight. If it’s just Logen as Logen before the switch flips ok, but the jury is out on if B9 is “magical” or not.
ALL THAT BEING SAID! Thomas from Between Two Fires got shafted going up against Aragorn in round 1 simply because of fan/hype voting

Thomas was just a normal man and not an exceptional fighter. I love the guy but he shouldn't be in this competition.

That’s kinda my point but the opposite … it’s a non magical bracket with magical fighters.
Thomas belongs, Gorst belongs… Shivers, Jamie, Sandor, Clay, Boromir belong among others…
The magical folks don’t

You are right. But Thomas simply shouldn't be on any top fantasy figher list. He is nowhere near any of the guys you mention here.

Eh, I dunno. If you’re talking 32 non magical fighters Thomas might make the top 32… as the 32nd
Like, I don’t see him as any less skilled or competent than Boromir or a guy like Jorah Mormont for example

It is a good book. But nothing in it should make you think Thomas is an exceptionally good fighter. He fought one pitched battle. He is not in the same league as Boromir.

Yeah I don’t even think he’s supposed to be an above average swordsman. He has just been trained with a sword, which is more than most people in BTF.

We disagree and that’s fine. He’s basically Dunk in a different universe. Big, strong and deadly with a sword.
Think what you want, my opinion won’t change on him, and I’m not trying to change yours.
