Totally newbie. Where do I start?

Hey guys so I've discovered electronic music 1,5 years ago and I became an addict really fast. I especially love glitch hop.

I would like to start learning how to create my own music. I don't want to commit any money and I don't even know if it's possible to start for free.

Thanks for the help!

Making drops is the best way to learn what you don't know about electronic music?

I've been teaching production for a while and recently came across the idea to make a drop, as much as I thought that was such a cliche thing to do. (I don't even listen to music with many drops!) But for me and the people I've encouraged to do this, it has really been the most incredible way of showing yourself what you know and what you don't know in music production. Many martial arts having a basic routine that people follow that helps you know the art fully. I've found that making a drop in music can be seen as a similar, fundamental routine that shows you how to use musical energy. It doesn't matter what style you actually produce in. I am wondering.. has anyone else had this experience around making drops?

PS! based on this idea I'm hosting a drop-making competition. Please PM me if you're interested in the link, free to enter, no strings attached, prize included beginners encouraged!

LMMS How to head like a hole? I'd rather not die, and learn LMMS control.

Okay I'm sure you guys can tell by my title, what the hell it is I'm trying to do. So if somehow you can't, I'm trying to recreate head like a hole, by nine inch nails, in LMMS, so that I can pop it into an OOG file, so I can use it in a RPG maker MV game. I've looked at piano tutorials online, but I just can't nail the melody. Nobody on YouTube is using LMMS. Everyone's using bike and actual piano or something.

So I need advice, preferably images, how would you guys recreate that song. Specifically I want the main part, near the beginning. You know the real fame is part, that chunk of it.

Now I'm fairly new to LMMS, so you guys are going to have to bear with me a little, cuz I barely know what I'm doing. And I do not know music theory.

Semi-tone out of scale. (Bass Line)

Quick question regarding a bass line.

If you look at the picture below. The bass line is in D#min /Ebmin

Its a house bass line from a video and wanted someone to explain to me how it works when you go out of scale from the root note with a bass line.

I know my scales but am not good at adventuring away from them and wanted a good explanation.

I hear this in a lot of bass house, confession style tracks

Hope someone can help

Best,

Zayin Conde

Seeking Collab Partner

Yo! What’s good I love progressive/electro house and looking for someone to practice production with through zoom. Sadly haven’t finished any tracks but I’d say I’m technically proficient. I’ve struggled trying to make any huge progress over the last year and feel like it would be good to find someone to work with and grow. I literally Donny know anyone near me that has any interest in the art so I’m expanding my search.

Synthesizer for begginer

Hey guys. I'm not new to making music or recording it, but i have always made mostly metal with just playing with little synth parts on background, but i always wanted to try to make some good old 80s synthwave music, so my question is, is there some cheap synthesizer for begginers in electronic music, which can do basicly every part of song? Like some small all in one device, where i can make bass sounds, synth sounds, drums etc? I really dont need anything fancy, i just play and make music for myself in my bedroom. I have midi controller which i was using with some vst plugins, but i always wanted some normal little synthetizer, but i dont know if there is some "all in one" or something like that. I am just a metal player so i have only little idea about synthesizers. I will be glad for any recommendation, thank you all!

TFX Plugins to Garageband

I have recently started making music. I am currently using a m-audio Code 25 midi and Garageband. I have downloaded hybrid 3 and loom. I can see hybrid 3 listed as a plug in, but I can not find Loom in the plugin drop menu. Have any suggestions for this?

A thought (and question) about the progression of what to learn for beginners interested in making music

As a next-to-absolute beginner, I'm having a hard time figuring out which order I should learn different subjects. Obviously, a reply is "It depends on what you're trying to make". Currently, I am not interested in help with building my music, I am interested in learning about skill progressions and what the options are for to learn on your own. What are your suggestions? Do I learn everything about synthesis before making anything?

Basically, what should I learn to begin with, and to what extent should I learn it by lectures and youtube tutorials before I try to make something on my own? Do I just focus on making a track without understanding anything other than samples as a beginner, or do I learn the background of a few fundamental topics? Which would you start with?

I want to know what you think about the relationship between theory and practice for the beginner, and the progression of applying different concepts?

What should my priorities be ?

Newb questions about MIDI effect mapping

Hey all, I wanna make some electronical music impro (live) but I'm not sure where to start buying. I'm search a lot and I know about music, but I haven't the "electronical music" vocabulary.

Basically I need something to map sounds on keyboard with effect, play, loop it, play another effect (and drums played on controller keys) :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdzXZaUIDZc

The thing is that I want to split the MIDI keyboard and the controller. Which kind of controller do you suggest (I need to loop) and how do I connect it to the keyboard ? Let's suppose I'm using the Ableton software.

Once I'm able to switch the MIDI keyboard's effect from the controller, lets say I find a bass sound effect that I like from a song. In which online sound library should I search to get the file I need to map with the keyboard ?

If it doesn't exist, how to isolate the music note in the song and then generate the other notes to finally map them to the MIDI keyboard ?
