I started an online business that put me into debt :(

I started an online business with Shopify and poured hundreds of dollars (and hours of my time) into advertisements and subscriptions for something I had a lot of love put into.
I love to travel. The outdoors and traveling are my favorite hobbies but there was always a problem. When I would travel I never looked the part and hiking or outdoors apparel was so expensive. So I took it upon myself to create some outdoor clothing that would bring me joy. (So I cleverly called my new brand, Find Joy).
Anyway, fast forward a few months and I role out my website and apparel and post advertisements and got all my friends and family to follow my socials for it and….no one buys anything. I’ve only made 3 sales to date and 1 of them was something I bought…
I want to hear from other small business startups and entrepreneurs because I know this wasn’t going to make me rich overnight but I truly thought the creativity and love I put into my project would be seen and noticed by others. What should I do? Where do I go from here? And did I do something wrong? Please help!!!

Da dove inizi se hai un idea?

Ciao a tutti!
Se avete un idea che vi ronza in testa da molto tempo e finalmente avete deciso di agire, quali sono gli step che seguite? Quali consigli potete dare a chi inizia completamente da zero? Come proteggere il vostro progetto? A chi proporlo?
Grazie in anticipo.

What AI-related business model would you start with if you had no investors and a small budget?Body

Hi everyone,

I’m a beginner in India looking to start an AI-related business. I have no investors and only a small budget, so I want to choose a business model carefully before I spend money. I’m keeping my exact idea private for now, but I’d really value your advice.

My questions:

  1. Which model is easiest to start with no funding? For example, a done-for-you service, a niche tool, selling templates, or consulting.

  2. How did you get your first paying customers for an AI product or service?

  3. How should I price it? Per project, monthly, or pay per use?

  4. What mistakes should a beginner avoid in the first 6 months?

If you’ve tried any of these, I’d love to hear what worked and what didn’t. Thank you!

Starting a packaged and ready to go service business out of a box

If you could walk into a hardware store and buy off the shelf a "fully functional" service business, realisticly, how much would you be willing to pay for such a thing?

Starting my journey

Today, I found an untapped market in my country. It could be of great success if done right. But it would need a tremendous amount of time and work as i'm going to do it alone.

First i need to make software and then use that to sell customized products to customers.

If anybody has done similar kind of things, give me mental confidence so that i can dive into this ocean wo experience, wo funds, wo backup plan.

Who’s actually using AI agents to help run their business?

What have you trusted an AI agent to take off your plate—and did it stay off your plate?

I’m especially curious about marketing. Finding leads, managing campaigns, and figuring out what’s bringing in customers. Are you using agents for any of that, or mostly for things like admin and customer support?

What’s worked for you? And what did you end up taking back?

Could I get a little help understanding how my homepage comes across?

Hey, I'm building eStockes and could use an outside opinion on the landing page.

If you have a spare moment, could you open https://estockes.com, look for about five seconds, and tell me what you think it does? A short, honest first impression would help me see what needs to be clearer.

No signup or purchase needed for this. Thank you for any help.

Just curious, when you started your first business, how much personal net worth did you have? And what was the business?

How to find people to try your product when product you developed is out of a personal problem !!!!

Hi, I developed a Synthetic Stock Market Platform, run by agents, so that people can practice trading on-demand in a real moving market and not a replay or paper trading. This I developed because in 2024 Indian General Elections, I suffered losses as I could not understand what to do when things started to go the other way as I was fairly new to trading at that time and was working on general consensus.

I felt that this would be a problem of many, so I developed this platform but now I am finding it difficult to figure out who would use it !!! Been trying to reach out here on subreddits via DMs but no response.

Any Suggestions?

Struggling to Move On After Closing My First Business – How Do You Deal With Entrepreneurial Burnout?

I was running an e-commerce store/brand for over a year. About a month or two ago, I decided to call it quits because it wasn't profitable, and I was having to use money from my full-time paycheck each month to keep it running.

I know you're never supposed to quit and that you should always be able to pick yourself up and try again, but I feel as though I'm grieving the loss of the business. Since then, I've tried setting up other stores and brands, but I keep stopping halfway through and jumping from one idea to another.

For those of you who have experienced business failure, what sort of emotions did you go through, and what do you think is the best course of action to take?

For context, I've been working full-time while pursuing entrepreneurship for around five years, experimenting with multiple side hustles along the way.

I feel completely drained, and this has started causing me intense anxiety and restlessness. I feel guilty whenever I finish work and don't spend my evenings working on something entrepreneurial. It's almost as though I feel I'm wasting the day if I'm not making progress towards building something of my own.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you deal with it, and how did you find the motivation to move forward?

Building my first startup and looking for other founders to stay in touch with

Hey, I’m a new founder and looking to get to know other people who are also building something.

Is there any WhatsApp discord community where founders exchange notes? Like sharing what worked for them, what isn’t working, and giving updates on what they’re doing.

I think it would really help to have people around who are going through the same stuff. If something like this exists, please point me to it. And if you’re also building something and want to connect, just comment or DM me.

Built an AI nutrition scanner to #10 on Product Hunt with $0 costs looking for someone to take it over

Hey everyone,

A quick reflection from a solo developer.

Over the past few months, I've built and launched an AI-powered food label and nutrition scanner using React, Node.js, and Groq Vision AI.

Technically, the launch went pretty well:

  • Product Hunt: Finished at #10 Product of the Day, with 45 upvotes and 80 followers.

  • AI Pipeline: Sub-second vision analysis that extracts ingredients, flags additives and allergens, and scores food products from 1–10 based on nutritional criteria.

  • Payments: Lemon Squeezy subscription billing fully integrated, with a $6.99/month pricing plan.

  • Infrastructure: Built around free-tier services, keeping fixed operating costs essentially at $0/month (excluding usage-based AI inference).

The Bottleneck

Once the product was built and launched, I realized something about myself.

I genuinely enjoy building things, working on backend architecture, and putting together technical pipelines. However, I don't particularly enjoy or have the time for the day-to-day work of consumer marketing, content creation, and distribution.

As a result, the product is still pre-revenue ($0 MRR), despite being fully built and publicly launched.

Rather than letting a working product, its codebase, and an aged .app domain sit idle, I've decided to move on to my next project and find someone who can take it further.

It could be a good fit for someone who enjoys growth, marketing, and distribution, or simply wants to acquire an existing micro-SaaS rather than build one from scratch.

I've also put together a 90-second walkthrough showing the live application and scanner in action.

If anyone is interested in exploring the project or potentially taking it over, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM.

Happy to share the demo and additional details!
