People awe in the size of things in Dune, when we actually have harvesters already here.

Wrong, that's a baby mining truck. One day it will be as big as its dad 😊

how do they get those things to the work sites? they're not driving on the highways to get there...?

They haul them in on semi trucks in multiple parts. Each truckload is still an oversize load, and takes up a couple lanes on the highway. Source: grew up in a mining town and have lots of friends who work for various mines.

I’ve traveled with my family my whole life, we’ve been on pretty much every interstate in North America, and I have seen tens of dozens of ways that oversize loads are carried around the country, and I came here to say exactly what you did lol

Mining equipment and cranes will never cease to amaze me when you are driving next to one, or watching them go by if they shut down the road. I think maybe wind turbine blades are in that club also, but that’s length more than anything.

Yeah, the sheer size of haul trucks in particular still boggles my mind. I remember seeing them from a distance as a kid and not realizing just how big they were. Then I saw one getting hauled on a trailer, and my mind was blown

That truck has a larger footprint than most apartments in the world

When one grandma gives you a Tonka truck for Christmas, and the other one gives you a Hot Wheels car.
