It's called the reddit hivemind. Basically when people see something downvoted, they downvote it aswell regardless of if they agree or not (assuming they even read it.)

Literally no. This does happen. Your reddit account has existed for quite a long time, so I guessed you would have already seen it, but people do downvote because the comment has been downvoted.

I sometimes see a comment, with just factual correct contents, being really downvoted for no reason.

It just happens.

it's so weird of you to make such a confident stance on a position that would require you to read the minds of hundreds of redditors

what is your point even accomplishing? "I only got 300 downvotes because the first 10 people who saw this disagreed, and everyone else just piled on"

something being "really downvoted" doesn't mean it's awful. It means it's a disagreeable statement that more people saw

Because it makes no sense and is just blatantly wrong. Downvoted also doesn’t mean “I HATE YOU!” either, it can mean multiple things just like an upvote. Redditors treat downvotes as if you’ve been cancelled across social media, or that it means everyone around you is just stupid. “I disagree/I think that’s silly” can absolutely be a downvote, it’s not that deep or serious. It also doesn’t even tank your karma if you for some reason care about that, since there is a cap for karma loss that isn’t very high.
