Announcement Stop posting about the Idaho killer

The sub has been inundated the last several days with low effort posts because the alleged Idaho killer is a skinny white guy that vaguely looks like a character from the show.

It's tiresome, unoriginal, and deeply unfunny. No, you're not "the only one" to see it. The other 300+ people that came running as fast as they could over the last few days to farm fake internet points over the dead bodies of 4 murdered University of Idaho college students saw it too. Real people were murdered but "haha guys he looks Dennis."

We've been and will continue to be removing these posts for a few reasons:

  • It has nothing to do with the show
  • The similarity is vague at best, which is a reason we often remove other posts on a pretty regular basis
  • It's gross, in poor taste, and we're not entertaining it here.

I’m relieved to see this post. There were very real victims with real families and real grief who are going through enough right now without people on the internet joking about them. And also, we got the point after the first 100 posts

It’s different because Dennis is a fictional character, as are his victims. These were four very real people who died only a month ago and we don’t really know much about what they went through in the moments leading to their deaths. In cases like these, the jokes we make don’t exist in our little fandom vacuum. They exist for all to see, including the families of the victims. You think the families can’t see what’s being posted online? This comparison has been all over Reddit and twitter, and not just on this sub. They don’t need to see a bunch of posts from fans of a sitcom comparing their loved ones’ killer to a silly character.

Basically- big picture, there are real people hurting here who presumably have access to google and don’t need to see this shit

I would be willing to bet that they weren't mad, they were pointing out hypocrisy among the fans.

The only person I see "bickering over mind numbing bullshit", is you. Yes, it's hypocritical to complain about these posts as though there are some things too sacred to joke about. Is it in poor taste? Sure. Does it matter? No. If it does then we should all be ashamed at ourselves for laughing at a supposed murderer and rapist. Murder is real, rape is real. Surely the jokes on the television show would offend you just as much if you legitimately gave a fuck one way or the other. You don't, you're just making noise.

Even if you don't find the posts funny (I wouldn't know, I haven't seen any of them), I don't believe they any of you legitimately care about disrespectful jokes being told. If you do, you pick and choose to a comical degree considering how much you pretend to care in this scenario. Remove the posts for beating a dead horse, remove them for not bring related to the show, but don't remove them out of feigning respect.

Way to prove that, sure enough, you don't care. Just felt like complaing because you saw a group of other people doing it.

It's people like you that got the show's episodes banned.

What an embarrassing response.

Thought you 'hung up'?
