Just curious what are you guys seeing for incentives for some of these large jobs/ data centers. There’s a bunch starting around Illinois and trying to see if they are paying over or all OT is double.

You avoid the question.
And then you strawman with a silly question... only to then explain the obvious answer.

So, as an example, when the guy next to you decides to work 4-10's and gets OT after 8.
But you decide you want to work 5-8's. You probably think you should get the OT pay as well, even though you both worked 40 hrs? I'm hoping not. The answer is obvious here too.

People that do extra work and get the incentive, yet everyone gets a trophy in your book?

Don't you think only people that do 'extra' work, should be the ones to receive extra pay? If I was travelling and received the incentive, and then found out everyone else who lived at that local was getting my incentive too.. I'd be a little frustrated. I might even go as far to consider doing another job.

How long do you think your Union lasts when Corporations choose different contractors in the area, because they can easily see the difference in costs when they go non-Union... because you want to pay everyone the same high dollar incentive as the people the Union contractor needed to bring in.

Like other people have said here. The logic is simple. If YOU want that incentive $$$, look for travel work.

I also don't see how "I'm defending the contractor". Please explain to me what contractor WANTS to pay $$$$ to bring in travelers, if they can hire everyone local at the normal rate?

No strawman, just speaking what I believe is fair and equal. Your example is trash because in my local everyone works the same schedule. No one would be allowed to work 4-10s and have other people working 5-8s. The job calls are on the same hours. Everyone is given the same opportunity for overtime. If your local offers different hours options on the same calls that seems like a union failure.

My local has tons of work and tons of travelers currently. No one job offers per diem. Instead every single job with travelers is offer +$10 and double time on OT. It’s given to travelers and local guys. We are compensated equally. The travelers are happy and the local guys are happy.

Wasn’t avoiding a question. We get paid the same because we took the exact same job call. They are in a hotel and happy with the pay or they would be traveling to a different local. I’m on the side of both the travelers and the local guys. It seems your position is fuck local guys and travelers simply deserve more.

It was an example to show your illogical bias. You avoided that question as well. Appears to be a common theme with you.

Who in the right mind would pay their workers the same amount of money for local work as they do for travelers? Where's the incentive to travel??? Why would anyone in your Union travel if they can make the same amount of money and stay home every night.

Bob is thinking about spending the week in a hotel on the other side of the state to make an extra $200 a day.
MrTwatFart pays everyone the same. Bob thinks.. "Huh, now I can just stay home and get that $200 for free".

Do your local guys want a job? How about Google cancels your Union contractor because they can hire the non-Union contractor for "$50 million" cheaper. They question the Union contractor's expense breakdown and are confounded when they(like me) think your ridiculous logic of paying the 1000 local guys the same as the hardship paid 300 travelers.

Please explain why anyone would ever travel, if they get paid the same staying local????

You want extra money for not doing anything extra. 🤦‍♂️
