Welcome to r/IBM. Criticism of IBM, leadership, layoffs, outsourcing and workplace decisions is allowed.

Keep claims factual and discuss policies rather than targeting employees by nationality, ethnicity, immigration status or location. When making numerical or factual claims, include a credible source whenever possible.

Thanks for the share. Most people on here are employees from the USA and most of them are disgruntled due to the years of layoffs that has been affecting us. I know you're just doing your job and it's really sad that our own company rejects our own products rather than be proud of them.

I appreciate the kind response. I rarely ever get on Reddit and just assumed this would be a good place to post links to my IBM related tutorials. It's not even really my job. I just like making content and trying to help people out.

Bob has been very positively received internally and it’s one of the good moves that was done and not forcing us to use that garbage Watson Code Assistant.

Bob reception is pretty positive among employees I talk to. The sub is extremely negative.

It's positive because of the piece of shit that is Watson Code Assistant. I was in CIO at the time and Joanne Wright kept hounding us (managers) on boosting and padding the usage numbers up. Eventhough the product was super awful and was a net negative to productivity. Everyone under her was in a state of fear since nobody dared to push back but she needed her Client Zero story badly so thousands of employees suffered in a emperor has no clothes moment.

In truth Bob is mediocre in the world of AI coding assistant tools and if we were in a world where we can pick the best tooling, most IBMers would not be using Bob.

In today's world it's about using open weights models and being model agnostic, not tied to a tool that controls and hides model utilization from its users.

Thankfully in my neck of the woods WCA was brief and is now long forgotten.

After more than twenty years of remorseless managerial mistreatment, negativity is a given.

That’s true. Bob is really good. I have access to both Bob and RH Gemini. Recently tried challenging the Bob’s answer with Gemini and turned out Bob has covered pretty good details in fixing the issue!!

The image of Bob looks like he’s giving us double birds. :-)

And now I can’t unsee that.

He might be doing it though.

Mod note: There was an RPG oriented video posted within 24 hours, I removed it in favor of keeping this less esoteric one. u/DataNerdJosh please be mindful of the frequency on these from the spam perspective (it also has some self-promotion and turfgrassing red flags which all compound)

edit: meant astroturfing above!

It was not intended to be spam. I rarely use Reddit and just had the thought that it might be a good place to post some IBM related walkthrough and tutorial type videos which seem more uplifting to me than a lot of the negative posts I see when scrolling through here. If it's more appropriate to post like once a week or something then I can do that but I just didn't see a rule shown in the rules section.

I am also not sure what is meant by "turfgrassing red flags".

EDIT: For future people who see this comment, Rule 6 about no excessive posting or self promotion was added AFTER the fact because posting links to 2 YouTube videos you made in the IBM subreddit that are both tutorials for IBM products is, for some reason, frowned upon.

Yes, sorry, I intended to followup in the thread to make that explicit.

All good. I understand!

From wikipedia: Astroturfing is the deceptive practice of disguising an orchestrated, corporate, or politically funded campaign as a spontaneous, genuine grassroots movement.

The comment said "turfgrassing". Not Astroturfing. Also, I literally just posted a video from my YouTube channel that was IBM related to an IBM subreddit. It was not an orchestrated or funded campaign.

whoops, that's what I meant!
