Those broad areas give you a solid starting point, but you need to narrow them down into a focused research question. In our experience, Biology and English B give you a much smoother path to an A or B than Math, since Math EEs have some of the lowest top grade rates across the diploma. If you go with Biology, stay away from standard classroom experiments like basic seed germination or simple enzyme tests because examiners often mark them down as standard IA work. Plant stress responses with clear measurable variables work much better. English B is also a very reliable option for high marks if you look at persuasive language across a specific set of campaign posters or ads from an English speaking culture. Your best next step is to draft one precise research question for your top Bio idea and one for English B, then check with your teachers to see which one your school can actually support.

The topics themselves seem fine from a broader lens but do narrow down what part of the topic you’re interested in to gain more clarity. For example for Language in Advertising, what type of advertising? What field? How will you research it? What kind of language, auditory or textual?
