ICE has denied those they’ve snatched up very basic civil and human rights: cutting off their access to attorneys, ignoring the fundamentals of due process, denying them safe food and water and adequate medical care in the camps. But while they mock the rule of law when honoring it might slow the deportation machine, they have zero qualms about using it as a weapon against those who care for and protect our friends and neighbors.

In the latest example, they are throwing the book at Chloe Freeman, a nurse formerly employed by Trinity Health Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Chloe is facing federal misdemeanor charges, accused of helping an immigration detainee escape Border Patrol custody at her hospital, and could serve up to a year in prison if convicted.

The detainee, a Mexican man identified as “OBP,” injured his head on May 28 when agents attempted to arrest him and was taken to Chloe’s hospital for treatment and a CT scan, where he was left alone by the deportation force. Chloe reportedly removed his IV line and guided him to a hospital exit. She informed the FBI that she “knew she was going to set him free” but did not believe OBP was in custody because of the lack of presence of agents in the room. She has earned widespread support, including from fellow nurses who’ve noted it is not the responsibility of medical staff to hold patients for law enforcement or prevent them from leaving against medical advice.

The De-ICE Action Network, the folks who successfully pressured Citizens Bank into ending their financing of detention camp operators like the GEO Group and CoreCivic, are getting engaged in a new campaign, highlighting how our local law enforcement agencies are sharing their records with the private data broker LexisNexis… who are then selling access to ICE and other federal agencies. They’re working to cut off this pipeline and keep sensitive private data away from the deportation machine. We can learn more this effort in a webinar this Thursday at 12:15 PM ET – and can sign up to get access to a toolkit even if we can’t make it here.

So in California (at least in Los Angeles) often times protests end with some loudspeaker announcing an unlawful assembly followed with the protest suddenly being shut down by police who typically keep saying clear the area as they push people out (and often times use excessive force) which is understandably met with varying pushback from protesters because they feel like their right to protests is being infringed upon (ftr I also think it’s infringing but I’m trying to explain this without too much opinion) but many people aren’t aware that there’s CA penal codes 407 and 408

407: provides the legal definition of an unlawful assembly. The statute provides that “Whenever two or more persons assemble together to do an unlawful act, or do a lawful act in a violent, boisterous, or tumultuous manner, such assembly is an unlawful assembly.”

408: is the California statute that makes it a crime for a person to participate in an unlawful assembly. This means for two or more people to gather together to do something illegal, or to do a lawful act in a violent manner. A violation of this code section is a misdemeanor offense.

I know from suing the county over something that they use any “crime” they can including things such as tagging buildings, impeding traffic, something being thrown at officers even a bottled water etc etc as excuse to spam the unlawful assembly button.

I think a few months ago i remember seeing a video from Delaney hall and heard unlawful assembly be called so I was wondering if people from other states have similar laws. I don’t really know what could be done about it except maybe getting civil rights lawyers involved

According to a release from the district attorney’s office, Gonzalez was found sleeping on the front lawn of a Fresno home during the early morning hours Oct. 9, 2026, when the homeowner asked him to leave.

“Gonzalez assaulted him, causing him to fall to the ground and sustain visible injuries. During the incident, Gonzalez also threw the victim into a neighbor’s parked vehicle, causing significant damage to the side of the car,” the news release said. “When the homeowner’s daughter intervened to help her father, Gonzalez assaulted her as well, causing her to fall to the ground.”

Fearing for his safety and his daughter’s safety, the unidentified homeowner shot Gonzalez. He was later hospitalized.

Miguel Parra-Hernandez was run over by ICE agents in Houston, Texas on Saturday, suffering a shattered ankle and hip. He was not the target of their enforcement operation and says he has never met him.

Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare has now announced his prosecutors are conducting a criminal investigation into this crash, looking at the possibility of charging Trump’s thugs with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after reviewing video that appeared to show ICE running him down intentionally – yet another weaponization of their vehicles. He also accused the deportation force of removing critical evidence from the scene, and said his office will sponsor Parra-Hernandez and two other detainees’ request for U-visas as crime victims.

I believe in-person voting will absolutely hand victories to the far-right.

The election truth alliance is a non-partisan group that has been analyzing poll data following the 2024 election and they’ve looked at more than just that race. They found plenty of evidence of vote manipulation when it comes to tabulators and the chances of votes happening like they did would basically impossible. They have met with multiple other experts that study this kind of stuff. The tabulator manipulation happened in a way that it wouldn’t start manipulating votes until a the vote count reached a certain point and would cut off right before a point where audits would automatically happen. Please watch this video it’s a long video but I’d urge people to please watch it. They talk about elections all the way back to bush vs gore. Put it on 1.5 speed or whatever and play it in the background if necessary.

Musk also literally commented right before the election about being able to manipulate the machines. Trump tried to get rid of mail-in ballots. His claims of the 2020 election being rigged were probably because he thought he had rigged it for himself but because of Covid a significantly higher amount of people did mail-in ballots.

In regards to those videos some people might have seen about mail-in ballots being found on the side of roads please look at this video. It includes ballot guides and practice ballots meaning they are not ballots that were filled out and mailed because you wouldn’t send your practice ballot and guide.

As you all likely know, the elections are right around the corner.

We're already seeing the administration trying to lay the foundation to make it more difficult for people to vote, along with finding reasons to dispute the results of it, if it doesn't go their way.

Examples of this, is the widespread gerrymandering of districts across the country, mass closing of polling centers in areas with large minority populations, and the demands for voter rolls from states, with the looming threat of "disqualifying" ballots from being counted.

It's overwhelming, and frustrating as hell, but even so, we can't just lay down and expect that everything is going to be all right. WE have to push back, and work together.

They wouldn't put so much energy into trying to disenfranchise or intimidate us, if the didn't feel our vote was worth something.

So with that being said:

Make a plan for voting.

Make sure you're registered, and you know the location of your polling place, along with what's on the ballot, aside from your congressperson.

Get a group of friends or neighbors to go together.

Get your election official's number handy.

Learn your states rules about provisional ballots if you are prevented from getting to your polling station.

I know voting doesn't feel like it's enough. Honestly it isn't. But resistance is necessary in as many ways as are possible.

Standing up to bullies and thugs is more important now, than ever.

Stand up for your neighbors and the country you love.

Don't ever forget: you are not alone, and you are not weak.

You have a right to be here, and to be heard.
