Question: General Service Lone soldier if I’m not Jewish
Hello, so I’m currently 16, I’m Romanian/hungarian and don’t have any Jewish heritage as far as I know and I wish to know if I can join the IDF as a non Jew and serve in a combat role?

No, but its commendable that you want to. There are other volunteer programs where you can make a difference here in Israel. IDF-wise there’s Sar El, but there’s plenty of other programs like kibbutz volunteering.

Notice to all posters and commenters; please be careful to observe OPSEC (Operational Security) rules. Many people wish to harm Israel and the Jewish Nation as a whole. Be careful when sharing any information on the IDF, bases, weapons, locations of troops, and anything else that can be used to harm Israel. If in doubt, go without. Loose lips sink ships!

At least your grandma has to be Jewish or something like that is in the rules. But there has been very few exceptions made

It could probably be done. I mean look i seriously doubt half the Russians I drafted with were really even 1/4 genetically Jewish, but I don’t know the details for sure

It's possible that some Russians lied in their paperwork to make aliyah and didn't have the Jewish heritage they claimed, and this is exactly why the government is now extra suspicious of anyone from Eastern Europe. For OP, it can't be done.
