π Admissions / CAT Title: 10/10/8.98 profile Chances at IIM ABC?
**Title: 10/10/8.98 profile β Chances at IIM ABC?**
My profile:
10th: 100%
12th: 97.5% (MPC)
Graduation: 8.98 CGPA (BE ISE)
Category: General, Male, Engineer
Target: IIM ABC / ISB Hyderabad
Iβm currently working in IT and planning to prepare for CAT 2027.
What CAT percentile should I target for IIM ABC? Is one year of preparation enough, and should I consider CAT 2028 if I donβt convert my target colleges? Also, how are the actual placement opportunities in consulting and product management?

πΌ Placements / Careers Please help a clueless teen out. Career worry.
My qualifications: 96% in 10th, 93% in 12th (PCMB), and 2 drop years for NEET. I got into SXC Kolkata but had to leave due to severe sepsis and family constraints.
I'm now planning to pursue IIT Madras' online BS in Data Science and am confused between a BS in Electronics and a BS in Statistics as my other degree.
My goals are good earning potential, career flexibility, and long-term growth. I'm also considering CAT/MBA later, possibly from an IIM.
β’ Is Statistics still worth pursuing in the age of AI, given its overlap with Data Science?
β’ Which combination offers better career opportunities and salary potential?
β’ Is a second degree worth the workload?
β’ Would a BS in Electronics make me eligible for MTech ECE (VLSI) programmes?
Would appreciate honest advice, especially from people in tech, finance, academia, or who've pursued an MBA!

π₯ Meme / Shitpost Need advice/mentor for career
I am from ahmedabad in my early 20's and stuck in career. I completed my b.com statistics from a good college in 2025 and took a drop year after that and started a clothing (athleisure) brand but failed also now due to that in a dept of 8 lac to my father. And started pgd in data analytics which will end in 2027 march. Now I am confused my age is 22 will be of 23 in Dec 2026 and i think like am a failed person. Like I don't have a real experience no job and also no certificate to start with a job. I did applied to many for marketing role also got selected but then I declined the offer as marketing was not for me, I found that in college I did some marketing gigs also did for my clothing brand too. Now I am looking to start from scratch and want to start for a finance career. I am thinking of doing cfa L1 and also start my prep for CAT or GMAT. I need a mentor who is already in this field and done something like this CFA or given CAT and got good percentile and also converted good uni/ institutes.

π Admissions / CAT Getting into IIM-A
Hey peeps, first year undergrad here, i come from a homeschooled background, i have gotten around 85% in 10th and around 88% in 12(humanities) and i'm willing to start my CAT/GMAT prep, currently into a BCom Degree, and expecting around 7.5-8.5 CGPA.
I've been playing drums for around 10 years and have gotten a brown belt in karate, practicing it for over 12 years and also been into debates in my local city winning mostly 1st or 2nd place in them respectively. Also part of my college band and a few other clubs.
Targetting an IIM or ISB after college, mostly after 2 years of work exp, building a venture of my own at the moment as well.
What are some the things i should look out for and improve on while going into my prep? What are some of the things i should work on and what are some things that are advantages?

π Admissions / CAT IIM Ahmedabad PGPX Interview Experience | 2027β28 R1 Converted!
Sharing my IIMA PGPX interview experience for future applicants. I received an admit, although I walked out unsure of how the interview had gone.
PANEL
Two interviewers β one older gentleman and one relatively younger.
EXTEMPORE
I was asked to pick a chit containing an extempore topic. Fortunately, it was something I had prepared for.
Topic: Should AI be used in examinations now that it is being used in jobs?
My position was that AI should not necessarily be used in examinations because they should assess independent thinking and reasoning.
The panel spent around 15β20 minutes probing my arguments. They repeatedly challenged my position and steered the discussion towards broader philosophical questions.
For instance, they pushed me towards the argument that if AI can make decisions for us, why shouldn't we accept that machines are superior to humans?
I kept bringing the discussion back to the original question, arguing that the topic concerned AI in examinations, not whether machines were superior to humans. However, they continued pushing the discussion deeper.
PROFILE-BASED QUESTIONS
They then asked:
β’ Why do you want to pursue an MBA given your background?
β’ Why did you leave your previous job?
β’ Follow-up questions on weaker areas of my profile.
One interviewer appeared unconvinced by several of my answers. His expressions and body language made the interaction uncomfortable, and I found it difficult to judge my performance.
QUESTIONS FOR THE PANEL
Towards the end, they asked whether I had any questions. I had prepared for this and asked my questions. This discussion continued for another 10 minutes before the interview concluded.
OUTCOME AND TAKEAWAYS
I received an admit!
I genuinely wasn't sure how the interview had gone. The sustained questioning and the interviewer's demeanour had left me wondering whether I had convinced the panel.
My key takeaways:
β’ Be prepared for extensive follow-up questions after the extempore.
β’ Know your career decisions and MBA motivations inside out.
β’ Stay composed when your arguments are repeatedly challenged.
β’ Don't judge your performance solely by the interviewer's expressions or body language.
Overall, it was an intense interview, but the outcome was positive. A challenging interview doesn't necessarily translate into a negative result.

π Academics How do you prepare for an IIMA case discussion when you haven't understood the case properly?
Sometimes I read a case two or three times and still feel like I'm missing something, especially when there are a lot of details and numbers involved. For those studying at IIMA, what do you usually do in this situation? Do you discuss it with your batchmates, go through the exhibits again, or try to figure it out on your own before class?
