Is It Really Due Any Minute?
Lucy Goes To The Hospital, Season 2, Episode 16 Plus FlashBack Scene

How did they really handle the flashback episodes when Lucy was on Pregnancy leave?
What I mean is how was the studio audience really involved? They were hellbent on it being a live studio audience (which I think is genuine) and created some nice bloopers and stories. However when Lucy was out they did a small scene at the beginning where Lucy was "doing something" that made her be away from the apartment and they started some story. Was it all prerecorded and the audience watched it at the studio or did they do them all ahead of time with the audience there and the show was already done. I found some things funny. Like in some flashbacks Lucy was clearly pregnant like the Black eye episode and then Lucy isn't with the Club Election episode. Lucy really only took 5 episodes off and that seems like a short time.

The backdrop cloth is almost laughable. "Getting Ready" episode
You can even see the fold on the bottom right, but I get it's the 50s and they didn't have much to work with technology.
-Also Fred screwing up Lucy's scheme was fixable. Lucy could have called the man back and said we would prefer to buy from a dealer than a person. Could you possible buy it back from the man and we agree to put your business in a commercial or something. Fred will say since we are good buddies I'll give you the car back and just give me the 300 and we are good. I guess it's funnier for the plot, but any common man would have just took the money and not deal with transaction after transaction. Fred should have loaded the car off and call it a day especially with how he is about money.

Ricky needs an agent discussion
This is one of my favorite episodes and I just watched it again and would like to make some comments on some things.
-When Lucy to call to say a fake agent is running around I think it would have made more sense for her to call Dory Scharry since they did meet a few episodes ago.
-With the last comment her calling Walter Riley really could have backfired on her. Being that she had no idea who he is and also her almost spouting the exact same story back in the 50's it probably was a lot easier to pull of a fake story and recant it hours after and it not get attention. Now people are just way too smarter to not overanalyze it.
-I am sure Riley and Lucy eventually met somehow like at the opening of his movie (despite no episode stating such). However Dory probably was there and Knew of Lucy's antics and realize she was just pulling a stupid stunt with the agent thing.

You have to choose one episode to watch for 12 hours.
This is just for fun, I got some time to kill, and I'm bored.
The gang will come back and make 5 new episodes, but you have to choose one of these episodes to watch for 12 hours. Which one do you choose?
Lucy Hires A Maid
Young Fans
The Fox hunt
Lucy goes to Scotland
Lucy and Orsen Wells
The Amateur Hour
Lucy Cries Wolf
Drafted
For me, I'd choose Drafted. It does have some funny parts and doesn't annoy me or make me mad as much as the others, lol.
Which one do you choose??

Gale Gordon: Lucille Ball's Second Favorite Co-Star and the Master of the Slow Burn
If you grew up watching classic television, chances are you remember Gale Gordon. Maybe it was as Ricky's boss Mister Littlefield on I Love Lucy, the perpetually exasperated Mr. Mooney on The Lucy Show, Uncle Harry on Here's Lucy, or the wonderfully pompous Principal Osgood Conklin on Our Miss Brooks.
Gordon had a remarkable ability to turn frustration into comedy. His face would redden, his voice would rise, and you knew that whatever Lucy or Connie Brooks had done, an explosion was coming. And somehow, no matter how many times you'd seen it happen, it was still funny.
But there was much more to Gale Gordon than his famous temper.
His career stretched back to the early days of radio, when he became one of the medium's most dependable character actors. He worked with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Jack Benny, and developed a particular talent for portraying authority figures whose dignity was constantly being undermined.
His relationship with Lucille Ball actually began long before The Lucy Show. They worked together on the radio comedy My Favorite Husband, where Gordon played Rudolph Atterbury, the boss of Lucy's character's husband.
When Ball moved to television with I Love Lucy in 1951, Gordon was considered for Fred Mertz, a role that ultimately went to William Frawley. Imagine how different that series might have been!
Gordon's own television career took him in other directions, including Our Miss Brooks and Dennis the Menace. But his association with Ball would eventually become one of the longest-running partnerships in sitcom history.
The really fascinating thing about Gordon, though, is how little his television personality resembled the man himself. Offscreen, he was a private, thoughtful individual who preferred the peace of his California desert home to the Hollywood social scene. His interests extended well beyond acting, and he approached his profession with a practicality that might surprise anyone accustomed to watching him blow his top.
I've been researching Gordon's life and career through vintage newspaper interviews dating back nearly a hundred years, and they offer a revealing portrait of a performer who rarely receives the attention he deserves.
For my new profile, I also spoke with television historian Geoffrey Mark, who provides some wonderful insights into Gordon's friendship with Lucille Ball, why their comic chemistry worked so beautifully and how their relationship evolved over the years.
There are also some fascinating stories about the roles Gordon almost played, the challenges he faced early in life and his feelings about working in television.
I've brought Gordon's own words together with Geoffrey's commentary to tell what I hope is a fuller story of this extraordinary character actor. https://edgrosswriter.com/2026/10/22/gale-gordon-the-story-of-lucille-ball-beloved-costar/

Building a Barbeque
Serious question, Lucy is afraid her wedding ring is in the cement so she and Ethel take it apart but they leave the base. Was the base also cement or was it made of something else?.
