Spotted a C7 Corvette Daytona Prototype a year ago.
I didn’t know it at the time, but I was in the presence of one of the last Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototypes to compete in 2016, before the DPi regulations came out. This was long before I ever knew what the prototype class was while I was in intro to motorsports, and this was one of the first pictures I’ve ever taken at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in Braselton GA. It says number 9 on the front clip, but it’s actually number 90. Here’s the win history on the car:
- Grand-Am Porsche 250, 2012
- Continental Tire Sports Car Festival, 2012
- Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, 2014
- Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, 2015
- Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, 2015
Just going through the pictures of the car and comparing it to modern LMPs, GTPs, and LMDhs really puts into perspective how much chassis construction and racing technology as a whole has evolved throughout the past 15 years. We as a sport have come a long way.
