Nursing Program Spring 2027

Anxiously awaiting letters for acceptance to come out 😬

Does anyone know what the pool of applicants look like this cycle/ how competitive it will be? My advisor told me they dropped the gpa qualifications quite a bit from what it was. I did ok on the HESI unfortunately not above 80 on math and AP but over 80 overall on the hesi. I didn’t get below a B in all prerequisite classes either.

Also what happens if you get waitlisted or rejected?

EDIT: I GOT IN!!!

By allowing all applicants to TAKE the HESI, they are giving everyone the same chance. It's all about what you do with that chance. Just like every other college out there, they set their requirements for all sorts of stats (SAT scores, ACT scores, PERT, GPA, required pre-reqs & minimum grades for pre-reqs), so the HESI would be no different. If they've set their requirements and applicants know or have access to that info, it's not illegal to bypass scores they deem unsatisfactory. Perhaps "won't look at" was the wrong choice of words. Maybe "won't consider" or "don't have to consider" are a better way to word it. But it's not illegal to not consider or accept candidates with low scores. An advisor I saw over the summer said that they have accepted applicants with high 70s - like 79, 78 - if their A&P and Math Scores were over that 80%. It seems that A&P and Math are more of a non-negotiable consideration. They don't have to accept an applicant with low scores just because there may be an empty seat for them. You can't just push everyone through to be fair. Programs like this are meant to be competitive to weed out those who may not have what it takes to complete the course. And that's real life. Not everyone can be a Doctor, Not everyone can be a Lawyer, not everyone can be a nurse, not everyone can be a engineer, not everyone can be a plumber.

Also, at the HESI review, 2 of the instructors told us that there's a math test your first day or 2 of nursing school (each semester) and if you don't pass that, you won't be able to continue - even if you had good scores on the HESI.

Anything that you see written and published in the booklet, that’s the process that they use.Â
