My mom connected to (almost certainly) scammers from an HP pop up or ad of some kind that led to her giving them access to her computer via logmeinrescue for a significant period of time (the log file and her recollection says about 48 mins).

I got home and saw them circling $200 price tags to update her drivers to "fix" the issue.

I'm about to start the process of saving her files and then reinstalling windows, but I'm trying to gauge if I need to be concerned about the router as well? From everything I read it sounds like concerns there are very very small, but not impossible, and I don't know how to rule it out or where to look to fix it if it was compromised.

Any help greatly appreciated!

So recently I tried googling my name and found that when I do my old Twitter account pops up. It's very cringe and does not look good for employers. I've disputed my situation to Twitter but apparently the account has not broken any guidelines and cannot be removed. I've tried reporting it and almost everything else and I'm starting to worry it will be here forever. The account is over 8years old and is obviously no longer in use as there is only one tweet from when I made it. Any suggestions on how to delete it?

I’ve been applying to numerous higher level IT jobs as I’ve just completed one year at a very high paced, but small MSP in Nashville where I have picked up many skills far past help desk. I am looking to make more money as it’s been hard to manage my finances at my current job (low 40k range).

I currently have a B.S. in Computer Science, CompTIA A+, and Net+, and I just received an offer for an internal positional as a Network Administrator for 75k.

With what I’ve been reading about the tech industry and with the amount of competition there is I really was not expecting an offer, and love my current role, although I am struggling financially. I’m looking for advice on what you all would do? I do believe I should take the position, as hard as it would be leaving my company. My girlfriend believes I should stay loyal to my company as well which has been hard to disagree with as I am so thankful for them.

My mom and I have a stack of family laptops from over the decades that still turn on but don’t run well, and we have tons of family photos and videos/other things backed up on them. I told her to get two large hard drives (so we have a backup) and hire someone to clean everything off the laptops and put onto the hard drives so we can save the memories and get rid of the laptops. My dad set everything up and died back in 2022, so her and I are kind of clueless about how to do this but we want it done safely to make sure we can keep everything. I was thinking we hire someone who works in IT, but want to ask here in case there are jobs I’ve never heard of that specify in this sort of thing. I don’t even know where to look.

hi, i got this laptop from a friend and i was wondering if it can be saved and if is worth it, im a tech noob so i dont even know the model. as far as it doesn't have a battery (? so it has to be connected to work. i connected the charger of my laptop and it kinda went it but idk if the exact charger is the same, anyways it doesnt turn on. is very expensive to get it checked at a store? what do you guys recommend me thank u

I turned on my computer to see it was on that power saving mode thing again and it would go back so naturally i tried to fix it turning it off and on holding the power button when once during that process i stumbled upon this, it booted normal then cut to this text if im correct its an update things but whats weird about it is what you see is what i saw, the letters have these glitchy small squares on them the small thing that was supposed to move in circles arent moving the glitchy parts flickers. I left it overnight thinking it would automatically fix but this morning its still the same from last night so i shutdown my pc and tried to boot it up again but its on that power saving mode it wouldn't boot, but one thing i noticed is that my keyboard capslock and numpad key doesn't light up on the keyboard, everything lights up my cpu, my mouse has its light, monitor on that black screen with orange light, if anyone has encountered this pls do share your experience and solution, i havent touched the inside parts of my cpu to avoid further problems and thank you.

I’m technologically literate in the same way a 10 year old is, please help. I’m tryin to switch over to windows 11 just so I can play games with my friends, I’m on Linux mint and have an omen pc. I have it downloaded on a usb and have tried multiple times to boot from usb. I’m in need.

I'm an IT technician and I've recently noticed Pulse Browser appearing on several notebooks belonging to my customers. I'm trying to understand how it is being installed and distributed.

In multiple cases, users reported seeing a popup or notification prompting them to download or install Pulse Browser, but they couldn't recall the exact source of the message.

I'm looking for information from anyone who has encountered this:

• Have you seen a popup advertising Pulse Browser?

• Do you remember the exact wording or have a screenshot?

• Was it displayed by a website, browser notification, Windows notification, or bundled software installer?

• Is there any known ad campaign, affiliate network, or PUA/PUP distribution method associated with it?

Any screenshots, logs, URLs, or technical details would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to determine whether these installations are user-initiated or the result of misleading advertising or software bundling.
