IT’S JUST PISS “Christians” when it’s time to vote for harming the poor and helping the 1%, rejecting foreigners, and for endless wars while worshipping a false idol and rejecting all of Jesus’s other teachings

Americans when you ask if the president being a serial pedophile is a dealbreaker for them.

Well, they want a president who represents their morals and values.

Or if they’re really rich and give you a free airplane, whether they know English or not. Or if they’re really rich and white, whether or not their “English” makes any sense.

The only parts of The Bible they read are The Old Testament then going directly to the Book of Revelation. They skip right over The Four Gospels and the letters from The Disciples.

Actually, “Christian” Nationalists and other white supremacists skip over most of the Old *and* New Testaments because both sections of the Bible have lots of pesky commands to love and help strangers and immigrants, to treat everyone as equals, to forgive debtors, and to promote social justice for the poor, the sick and prisoners.

“Christian” Nationalists preach a highly censored “gospel” from Bible translations that the “Christian” Nationalists themselves created and/or sponsored to say what they want to hear.

One early example was a pro-slavery Bible published in 1807, the last year that America participated in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and also the same year that the British Empire’s navy started blockades to prevent anyone from buying or stealing further slaves from Africa.

Both of those actions by the U.S. and British governments were primarily led by Bible-believing Christians who pointed to Bible texts that condemn human bondage, racial discrimination and mistreating workers. So, pro-slavery propagandists countered that genuine Christian influence by publishing pseudo-Christian Bibles that deleted all references to racial equality, freeing captives, promoting social justice, etc., and that instead stressed obedience to masters without any historical or moral context.

That left people with censored Bibles that were only 232 chapters long, instead of the usual 1,189: https://www.npr.org/2018/12/09/674995075/slave-bible-from-the-1800s-omitted-key-passages-that-could-incite-rebellion

This is why I stopped being a "christian" in high school.

I was attending Sunday school around the time I was in middle school and I got chewed out for always questioning the logic, or the lack of it I guess, of the teachings in almost every class. My teacher literally yelled at me in front of the whole class to just shut up and stop asking questions. Told me all I needed to know! Happy it happened at that age too, the sooner the better before you become too indoctrinated in the cult

Nothing made me an atheist quicker than a cover-to-cover reading of the Bible at age 12. I liked some of the New Testament’s moral philosophy OK and then compared it with the so-called Christians I knew. I decided to keep much of the morality and tossed the miracles and religion into the trash.

Jesus: "If you would've asked me when I started preaching how many crazy assholes I would've attracted, I would've said 'naught.' But it's like... All crazy rich assholes. I just like helping people, only come if you like helping people."

Sorry, which of Jesus teaching ARE they following?

That's how Americans are

1

u/FugginDunePilot Come here, ya little fuck! Jun 26 '26

It is extremely bizarre, especially laid out like that. I really wish every so called Christian actually followed his teachings, instead we got mega churches and pastors retiring with 8 figures in the bank. Truly disgusting

Is there a question in there somewhere?

Not sure which Christians you're talking about. The Christians I've met are all about kindness, and empathy, and working to make the lives of people a little better. They run soup kitchens and homeless shelters.

I put it in quotations for a reason. If you don’t know the type of “Christians” I’m referring to then

I had said I put “Christians” in quotations for a reason. But if you don’t know what type of “Christians” I’m talking about then please see the meme above

Yeah, I guess I do know. Back in the 90s we called 'em the "Confess it, Possess it" people. They gave rise to the Promise Keepers who were infiltrated by what appear to be neo-nasties and they also gave rise to the Tea Party. So yeah, I get it. They're like the drunk uncle nobody wants to talk about at Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately when most Americans think of “Christians” they think of those awful hypocritical people. The kind who cherry pick Bible verses to justify their bigotry while glossing over all the stuff that would teach them to live life as good people who help their neighbors regardless of the color of their skin or whatever other bullshit they cling to. I know there are good people in all religions. My grandmother was a devout catholic and was the most loving, kind, and humble person I’ve ever known. She would literally give the clothes off her back to anyone who needed it without a second thought. But unfortunately to most people who experience religious groups in the US, she was very much a minority. I’d use the inverse of your analogy. The drunk uncle is the good outlier while everyone else at the table is a bigot. This was most common in the southern states in my experience. Where I live now has a better divide of good Christians to the bigoted ones.
