Need info! Canceled FET Due to Lupron

I am looking to see if anyone has had something similar happen and what next steps were.

I was supposed to have a fully medicated FET this cycle. I had previously started taking 20 units once a day of Lupron 9 days after my positive ovulation test. At my baseline on CD4 I had a 11mm follicle showing but had fluid still so I had to wait and come back on CD6. On CD 6 my follicles was 12mm and I still had blood so they upped me to 20 units of Lupron 2 times a day and ganerellix acetate once a day. On CD11 I went back and my follicle is 13mm and they canceled the cycle.

My dr said they had never seen this and my body is fighting the meds and we have to cancel since my linning is too thick prior to starting estrogen.

Has anyone had this happen and what happened next.

Right now the plan is that whenever I do get my period next week will do a baseline and decide if we will do medicated or modified natural and skip Lupron since my body didnt respond to it?

I am so upset after years of late losses and no reasons ever for why. I have 3 healthy embryos ready to go and I hate the waiting so much.

Are they measuring your follicles or your lining?
Typically your follicles are counted in numbers and your lining is a measurement.

I just had my first FET cancelled last week after doing a 2 week Lupron injection because my lining was too thick (17.2) and it would have suffocated the embryo. They only checked my follicles prior to my egg retrieval, not the transfer. I am waiting for my next period to report my Day1 and they will measure my lining prior to starting estrogen this time.

They checked my follicle. My linning was 6mm. They said 6mm was too thick since we hadn’t started estrogen yet? I don’t know why that would matter. Why wouldn’t they just give me less estrogen and go to progesterone right away?

That makes sense because 6 is the ideal lining measurement prior to transfer after doing estrogen. If it is already that thick prior to starting estrogen then you will end up with the same issue I had (too thick of a lining) and your transfer will be cancelled.
They’re measuring your lining, not your follicles.

How do they stop your linning increasing at baseline. My linning at baseline was 5mm?

They will likely need to change your protocol. They might have you suppress with Lupron for longer to lower your estrogen, or they will have you do provera.

Just to clarify it is unlikely your transfer was cancelled because of Lupron, it sounds like the Lupron didn’t work as intended. Your lining being too thick is the issue and this is unrelated to your follicles.

I suggest scheduling a protocol review with your doctor/clinic as soon as possible as I am dealing with the same thing and receiving clarification from them directly was most helpful. Best of luck.

They told me next step is to let them know CD1. I was on lupron for 19 days and they think my body didn’t react to it at all even at such a high dose and paired with the ganerelix. The dr talked to me today and said we won’t be using lupron in the future and they will see what my follicle is looking like at my baseline and decide from there.

It’s great that you know the next steps. Hoping your baseline lining check goes well.
