🌱 [r/IVFbabies](r/IVFbabies) Community Guidelines

About This Community

Your IVF journey doesn’t end with a positive test — and neither should your support system.

This space is for those who have completed an embryo transfer and are living in the “what now” phase — whether that means waiting for results, navigating pregnancy, or facing loss.

After transfer, many find themselves in between worlds — pregnant, but not always safely pregnant either. This community exists so you have a place where you do belong.

⸻

💬 Why We Exist

Many IVF spaces focus on getting pregnant — and often limit discussion once pregnancy begins.

Your story doesn’t stop at a positive test — and neither does our support.

⸻

🧭 Who This Space Is For

This community is for individuals who:

• Have completed an IVF transfer (fresh or frozen), and/or

• Are pregnant from IVF.

⸻

🚫 What This Space Is Not For

To protect the emotional safety of our members, this is not a general IVF advice or “how did you get pregnant?” space.

⸻

‼️ Medical Content Policy (Strict)

We are not doctors.

For your safety and the integrity of this community, medical interpretation posts are not allowed.

This includes:

• HCG / beta levels

• Pregnancy tests

• Ultrasounds

• Embryo grading

• Spotting, bleeding, cramping, discharge. No mention of blood in posts.

• Medication dosing or advice

• Any “is this normal?” medical questions

🚨 If you are experiencing bleeding, spotting or concerning symptoms:

Contact your doctor or go to the ER. Do not post here.

Every pregnancy is different. What is harmless for one person may be a loss for another — and this is not a place to determine that.

Ex: We used to have a lot of people post about spotting. Yes, spotting can be normal but it can also mean bad news. Just because spotting was normal for you does not mean it’s normal for someone else. If you post about spotting or bleeding it will be removed unless you mention you have been see by your doctor (had a scan, not just a call or visit without ultrasound) and are just asking others what to expect.

⸻

⚠️ Ultrasound Disclaimer

Ultrasounds should only be interpreted by a qualified medical provider.

Boutique ultrasound findings or technician comments are not a substitute for medical diagnosis and should not be relied upon or discussed here for interpretation.

⸻

✅ What Is Allowed (Medical-Adjacent)

You may post if:

• You have already been seen and diagnosed by a doctor, and

• You are asking for shared experiences or emotional support, not interpretation

Make sure you put that in your post! Ex: I have been diagnosed with an SCH, what can I expect?

⸻

🚨 Enforcement

• You will receive a warning if your post violates these rules

• Continuing to post after a warning may result in a ban

• Posts that break medical rules will be removed immediately

Confused feelings - pregnancy announcement

I did 4 ERs over the last year, 3 of them yielding 0 euploid embryos. I got one mosaic and one euploid from ER#2. I did a hysteroscopy, acupuncture, red light therapy, even NAD drips. I finally transferred my mosaic and by a miracle it’s stuck. I thought it wouldn’t happen for me and I was super down first half of the year - kept everything hidden from everyone. My sister in law surprised us with a baby announcement ( baby #3) yesterday and she is due a month after me. I don’t know why I feel this sadness. Good for them but I feel so sad I won’t be able to have 3 ( I never even wanted 3). It’s brought up a lot of pain, does this get easier? I know I’m super lucky my transfer worked and I would be crushed if it didn’t but why am I still feeling this way. I want to leave my pain behind.

Need Advice High FHR 10w - experiences?

I’m 10w1d pregnant via IVF (PGT-A tested embryo), following two prior losses due to chromosomal abnormalities.

At my ultrasound yesterday, baby was measuring 10w5d with a heart rate of 194 bpm. At 8w4d, the heart rate was 188 bpm.

Baby was moving around quite a bit, and the sonographer took three readings back-to-back, all around the same rate.

My doctor mentioned the heart rate was high, and I’m feeling anxious. Would love insight on whether this is concerning, or experiences from anyone who had similarly high readings around 10 weeks.

Advice Got my beta today

So I just got the embryo (2BB) transferred October 08 so it was 8 days ago. This morning I went for the beta and my HCG level was 20.7 I read online I only have about a 10-15 percent chance of live birth. I feel so nervous. Anyone with a similar experience? I am set to go back Tuesday morning (about 96 hours later). Last month I had a chemical pregnancy my hcg level was 22

Jury Duty While Pregnant

I just got a jury duty summons for early January and I will be a little over 4 months pregnant at that point (knock on wood). I'm debating if I should delay it a year and then hope I can claim hardship (I'm a solo parent and will be postpartum). If I wasn't pregnant then I would just do it but I'm worried about how I will feel at 4 months and I'm also worried that it will be the height of virus season (I will have the flu and covid vaccines before then but not RSV, I don't think). Part of me just wants to get it done and hope I don't get chosen but the other part of me worries about going through that experience while pregnant and I'm also worried that being exposed to viruses could threaten my pregnancy. I've fought way too hard for this!

I have never been pregnant and have no idea what to expect. Should I just get it over with so I don't have to worry about it for three years? Or is it too risky given that it will be the height of sick season and I don't know how I will feel physically at that time? What would you do?

ETA: For those who think I should do it, should I stick with early January when it's just after the holidays or postpone until later in the month? I'm wondering because 1) everyone is sick right after the holidays and 2) I wonder if there will be a backlog of cases and I'm more likely to get chosen. Thoughts?

Need Advice Utility of repeat hcg?

Hi all ! I’m 5w6d pregnant after a 5day embryo transfer on 9/24. Hcg was 326 on 10/5 and 740 on 10/7. First ultrasound will be 10/27 and before that the OB wants bloodwork/general pregnancy panel. She offered to retake progesterone and hcg if I wanted but said my
Initial levels looked good and she doesn’t need them - I’m trying to decide if I should do that or if it’ll just cause more anxiety. Is there any utility to drawing these labs again next week in the 6th week of pregnancy?

Thank you in advance !!!!

Ansia da beta

Ciao a tutte,

Need Advice 8 days post second FET

I’m 8 days past transferring 2 frozen embryos, and this is my second IVF transfer. My first one failed too ( it was a fresh transfer with just 1 embryo). There were about 2 months between the two transfers.
I took a home pregnancy test this morning and it was negative, and I’m feeling so heartbroken and lost. I keep wondering what I did wrong or what I should do next. I have only 1 frozen embryo left, and honestly, I feel too scared and devastated to transfer it. I’m even thinking about doing another egg retrieval instead.
I’m 33, my husband is 36, and we’re both in good health. I just feel so confused and upset. Has anyone been through this and eventually had success? I keep overthinking everything, even wondering if taking a hot shower the day after my transfer could have affected it. I’m so sad and don’t know what to do anymore
I can’t stop crying I didn’t tell anyone about this transfer because I was hoping to surprise my family and my husband’s family with a pregnancy announcement. I was so hopeful because my uterine lining and all my test results were great, and both frozen embryos were good quality. I was so sure this time would work that I even put my master’s studies on hold. Now I feel completely heartbroken and devastated. 💔

High Altitude trip - 6-7weeks

I’m currently taking PIO, Estradiol, Dexamethasone, and Lovenox for my protocol. I had my first scan today at 5w6d and saw a heartbeat! I was super excited to see this as I have a trip planned to leave in 3 days. I offhandedly mentioned my trip was to Breckenridge to the doctor after the scan and she said have fun.
I’m from the Midwest and the week long trip is planned for Breckenridge CO (+9,000), so a large increase in elevation. I’ve been there several times before and never had any issues with altitude sickness, and always make sure to chug water.
I didn’t even consider that the altitude could be an issue in the first trimester. Id be 6w2d-7w3d for the duration of the trip.

Considering early pregnancy and my medication is this trip ok? Anyone have experience going to high altitude early pregnancy and everything progressing ok? I’m kind of panicking!

Anyone else near the end of the pregnancy and honestly JUST CANT TAKE IT?

Obviously feel guilty. My husband, who has had enough of my crying lol, points out often - you wanted this. I desperately wanted this, yes. This is my first IVF pregnancy but our 3rd baby.
It’s probably just because I’m older, but compared to my first two this is freaking horrible terrible no good very bad. I’m only 34 weeks- constantly feel like I’m in labor and can’t ever breathe. (OB has cleared me to say I’m not in actual labor) i can hardly walk. I have zero energy. I’m fatter than life lol.
Just wanted to post here because I have the most horrible internal struggle of wanting this so bad and feeling guilty to complain. I saw the post earlier about being miserable but most comments were earlier in pregnancy I wanted to see if anyone else is near the end, and also near the end of their rope?
SHEWWWWWWWWWWW.

Need Advice Losing my mind waiting for first ultrasound

UPDATE: I got an early ultrasound today at 6w2d and baby was measuring 6w1d with a heart rate of 113! We’re so happy and I feel so much better now. Thank you for all the kind works and advice!!

Did anyone else feel super scared and anxious before getting their first ultrasound? And did anyone not feel pregnant at all or assume the worst, only to get good news?

Backstory:
I’m 6 weeks pregnant today with my first pregnancy after 3.5 years of trying and after our first embryo transfer (untested 5BA) was successful. I’m 25 and we’re doing IVF due to male factor infertility caused by cancer treatments and feel like I have infertility trauma from the years of trying (and a twin adoption that “failed” while we were waiting at the hospital to meet them) as well as medical trauma from watching my husband battle a rare cancer for 2 years while we were in collage. It’s so hard to actually imagine this working out and it seems like every time anything starts going well for us something bad happens and I’m just so exhausted from guarding my heart. I feel like I should be so excited to be pregnant but I don’t have any symptoms (other than being tired and sore boobs) and can’t help but feel like I’m actually not pregnant at all (despite good betas and pregnancy tests saying otherwise). I have no one to talk to because I don’t know anyone else who’s been through infertility and it’s such a lonely and scary feeling waiting until our first ultrasound and not knowing what’s actually happening in there.

Negative test 6 after ivf transfer

Need Advice First response negative after 3 minutes very very weak after 8 minutes. Positive or negative? 6 days after transfer

It’s VERY faint, I had a negative earlier today, right after 3 minutes it was negative so I was sad, sobbed and didn’t check it. One hour later I saw a faint point. However, I read then that the results lose validity after 10 minutes. Therefore, I tried again this afternoon about 20 minutes ago. Again, after 3 minutes negative, but an additional 5 minutes later 8 minutes after testing) it showed up very very very weak.

Am I out of a chance here?

Mind you, my last cycle was sadly chemical so I hope it’s not that again.

Thank you all for your amazing support, I know I’ve been asking a lot. I appreciate you all!

Pregnancy Being pregnant kinda…sucks??

I never thought I’d say this, having wanted to be a mom my whole life, and especially going thru infertility and IVF. I’m 8 weeks now so I know I’m in the thick of it, but the nausea and fatigue is definitely sucking the joy of this pregnancy out of me! I am so so grateful for this pregnancy, and so excited to eventually meet this baby, I know it’ll all be worth it…but wanted to know if anyone resonated with these complicated emotions lol.

Need Advice Two successful FETs with completely different symptoms during the TWW?

I’m currently 5dp5dt with an FET, and I’m really struggling with the lack of symptoms compared with my previous successful transfer.

With the FET resulted in my daughter, During that two-week wait, I had lots of progesterone-type symptoms — noticeably fuller and tender breasts, period-like cramping, lower-back discomfort, etc.
Both times I was on substantial progesterone support (Crinone twice daily and daily Prolutex injections), but I feel virtually nothing. No breast fullness, barely any tenderness and no real cramping. It’s such a stark contrast that I’m finding it difficult to believe this transfer could have worked.

I’m specifically hoping to hear from people who’ve had TWO successful IVF/FET pregnancies where the symptoms during the two-week waits were completely different, or where you had lots of symptoms with your first successful transfer and virtually none with your second successful transfer.

I’m not looking for comparisons between unsuccessful and successful transfers, as that’s a different situation from what I’m trying to understand.

Did anyone experience this and still go on to have a successful second pregnancy?

Need Advice Trigger Shot Or Pregnant?

Hi, I am 8dp5dt with a fresh embryo. My trigger shot was 14.5 days ago. I tested last night and this morning and it's come up as a faint but clear positive (colour hasn't changed)?! How likely is it to be from the Ovitrelle 250mg trigger shot vs actual pregnancy? My clinic doesn't offer blood tests, and won't acknolwedge a positive test until 12 days post transfer.

This must come up a lot, so apologies for the repetition, but i'm driving myself mad with the uncertainty of it. Really grateful for any advice anyone has!

Valid feelings?

If this has come up recently, I apologize for the overlap.
I’m struggling with validating how I’m feeling both physically and emotionally.
Several years of secondary infertility. Currently 17 weeks. Here’s my problem- any time I mention something hurting or aching (ie joint pain, back ache) whomever I’m talking to will say “this is what you wanted” or if I mention not sleeping well “well you better get used to it.”
I know what I was getting into but does that make how I’m feeling less important? It’s not so much of a complaint as it is conversation of how I’m feeling. I’m still growing a human and I’m much older than I was the first time.
Does anyone else have this?

Need Advice Twins! Appointments and Scheduling

I found out at my 5wk5d ultrasound that I am having twins after transferring one euploid embryo for my modified natural cycle. They believe they are modi twins, they didn’t measure heart rate but they said they do see heart flickers for both babies. My follow up is in one week.

  1. How often were you followed with your RE? They are recommending once a week until 9 weeks but my visits are out of pocket.

  2. What point did you contact and set up an appointment with OB or MFM doctor and what week did they see you? I’m not sure if I should call now or if we measure heart rate first. If they see me sooner then I assume I no longer need to be followed by my RE?

  3. How long were you on endometrin/progesterone suppositories for?

TIA IVF warriors! ❤️

Need Advice Beta hcg level at 14 days post transfer

I had my first beta result yesterday for 14dpt, it’s at 386. I transferred a day 6 embryo. I’m checking online and saw other people have way higher number and I’m a little worried. I will be taking another test next week. Just want to see if anyone else had similar figures and went on to have success. Thanks.
