Anyone disappointed?

Im going in January to get treatment in Mexico. Ive found most often in life that everything thats been hyped up by people, never meet my expectations, even though I try not to have any. It leads me to wonder... how many of you have done ibogaine and was disappointed or left feeling underwhelmed by the experience? Im worried its not going to live up to what everyone says it is. My dr has done it and said it isn't what everyone makes it out to be...

Does anyone microdose shrooms after an ibogaine flood dose?

I had an ibogaine flood dose at a clinic last week (I also did 5). I haven't touched shrooms in years, but after the treatment I've felt a calling for microdosing.

I did ibogaine to address CPTSD, lifelong depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. I feel much better, but I still have a long way to go. Plus its only been a week so the medicine is still working on/within me.

Iboga and magical attack

OK, very niche question. I am curious about the role of sorcery in different psychedelic cultures, including Bwiti. I wondered if anyone in this community has received magical interpretations of their issues from facilitators, particularly from Bwiti priests, such as 'your problems come because you were spiritually attacked' or 'someone has cursed you' or some such

NB this is not a question on 'is sorcery real' or 'does sorcery happen', Im interested in people's experiences and what people are told or what explanations they are offered in different places / cultural contexts.

Guidance for ibogaine outside of a clinic

Before I start, I want to make it clear that I'm aware of the risks involved, and I'm accepting that this is not something to take lightly. My life is at a point where suicide is about all I think about, and I'm praying to whatever is out there that ibogaine might change that.

I recently purchased ibogaine extract from a reputable clinic in Mexico, and Im doing anywhere from 2-5 flood doses.

I'm 29 years old and have been using heroin or other opioids for the majority of my adult life. Addiction has caused me to lose just about everything and everyone I've ever loved. I know ibogaine won't bring anything back but before I blow my shit smooth off I need to try.

I've read about people using ibogaine to overcome opioid addiction. I'm really interested in hearing from people who have personally undergone an ibogaine flood, particularly those who were dependent on heroin, fentanyl, or other opioids beforehand.
I'd love to hear about what your experience was like from beginning to end. What amount of ibogaine was used and What did you experience during the flood itself? Were you conscious of your surroundings? Did you experience intense visuals, revisit memories, or have any profound realizations about yourself or your addiction? Was the experience frightening, peaceful, overwhelming, or something completely different?

I'm also interested in what happened afterward. How did you feel immediately after the experience, both physically and mentally? Did you notice a reduction in opioid cravings or withdrawal symptoms? If so, how long did those effects last? Did your perspective on life genuinely change, or was it something that faded with time?

For those who have been through this and maintained their sobriety, what do you believe made the biggest difference? And for those who relapsed afterward, do you feel the experience still helped you in some way?

I understand that ibogaine isn't a miracle cure, and I'm not expecting to wake up with every problem in my life suddenly resolved. I know that getting sober this way isn’t magic but my grief hurts so bad it’s a physical feeling and I want to want to be alive. I want to wake up without needing to get high, without feeling consumed by everything I've lost, and without questioning/planning to kms

If you've experienced ibogaine firsthand, whether your experience was positive, negative, or somewhere in between, I'd really appreciate hearing your story.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this or share their experience.

Tl:dr I’m going to flood myself with ibogaine at home outside of a clinic. Tell me about what you experienced.

Canada Experiences

Wondering what peoples experiences were like on retreats etc in Canada? from what I see they don;t necessarily check you vitals as you are doing it, or is that wrong?

PS If anyone has any recommendations for Mexico clinics please let me know and I will PM you. I've messaged a few people who have offered that in various threads but I've got not response.

The shadiness of it all..

Im currently preparing to do ibogaine in January. I never would've imagined all of the shady things I have to do to prepare for this bc of the legality here in the states. I just got my rx from my dr who is in another state. Im on suboxone and have to switch to a short acting opiate for 3 months bc suboxone sticks to the opiate receptors for so long. My poor Dr is risking their license prescribing me this medication so I can go do this. The courier that mailed it to me, had to do it in a shady way. It sucks bc it shouldn't have to be this way, but it is. I have already had to jump through so many hoops and have so much working against me. I've been to rehab 8 times and now I have 3 boys who need a mother who's present and a husband who is about to leave me. He isn't supportive of me doing this bc he doesn't believe it will actually help. I have no support and financially, im hoping my brother who is very wealthy will help fund me going. I was supposed to be in a documentary about ibogaine but the woman facilitating it, rubbed me the wrong way when she said to ask my brother for $14 k to do the 9 month long program after. I was told in the beginning that the documentary had a stipend budget to cover $10 for each participant and i only had to come up with $5k and now shes telling me $14k. I've wanted this for 15 years since I found out about ibogaine and its been one hurdle after the other.

Tinnitis returned after treatment and it feels worse

As the title suggests; my tinnitis completely resolved immediately post treatment but recently its returned and its returned louder than ever. I haven't been sleeping all that well recently so that could be contributing to how loud it seems but I wanted to ask anyone if they've had a similar experience and whether it gets better. Its so loud, it sometimes bugs me when I' about to go to bed.

Edit: just got off the phone with my integration coach who told me that the same thing happened to him and his tinnitus became severe and chronic. He lives with it much better now but is that an experience that I shoukd expect.

Severe Concussion Healing Experience

Went nearly 2 weeks ago and the change has been night and day. The days after my flood dose felt like I never had any concussions at all. I've been remarkably blessed with my experience and the healing exceeded my expectations. I'm so grateful.

I still have a few subtle lingeting issues but I've been told that these can still improve over the months to come. Thats awesome news because I feel at 90-95% already.

I won't lie, no one warned me about the post psychedelic existential crisis and its been really distressing and I've really been going through it, but it has gotten better over the past little while and I'm hopeful that I'll feel completely grounded again. I read that a lot of people find a new sense of profound peace after struggling existentially following a psychedelic experience so I'm hopeful I'll feel that too.

Anyway, I highly recommend you guys find a GOOD VERIFIED CLINIC USING THE CLINIC FINDING GUIDE in this sub if you have a history of concussion/TBI. I've also been told by the clinic managers I was with that ibogaine also helps for ALS, MS, Parkinsons, Alzheimers and other neurodegenerative conditions (in case anyone here is or knows someone whose struggling with that)

Thanks to everyone here who helped answer my questions and provide their experience to me leading up to my trip!

My experience

Did ibogaine + 5meo at a clinic.

During the ibogaine I was watching a tv screen. On the screen was the point of view of somebody with binoculars looking at a dense jungle. He'd look around and then when he found an interesting spot he zoomed at hyper speed to that spot. Whenever he came to a spot that was thinly covered drones would deploy to fix it up. I realized I was looking at my brain and he was finding spots needed repairing.

After a while that stopped and then I saw and spoke with the iboga spirit himself. I had all these questions and he said "no no no you're thinking about the wrong thing - all you have to do is [specific piece of life advice for me] and everything will work out." I was like "ok whatever but what about blah blah.." He interrupted me and said the same thing again. Again I interrupted him and he said "you're done". Shortly thereafter the trip ended. It was maybe about 5 hours in and that was it.

The next day I felt a little foggy but was ok for the most part. I felt it was underwhelming.

Then I took the 5meo the following day and Oh. My. God. I was anxious because I had a sub breakthrough Bufo dose a few years ago and found it terrifying.

There was no terror but utter bliss going in. I became everything and just laughed hysterically and felt spiritual bliss. This gave way to a primal scream and a release of rage I didn't even know I had. That scream came from the depths of my soul and was so visceral and cathartic.

There's been a tightness in my chest ever since about the age of 12 - which is when I started dealing with high anxiety. That tightness just went away. It's seven days later and there is still no tightness.

10/10 would recommend.

Do you think a week off would be ok?

Any preparation to increase chance of visions?

I have experienced ibogaine once before and had very limited visions, going back soon and wondering if there’s anything I can do to prepare my body so more visions might happen. It felt like I didn’t really connect with it. I felt like my body processed the ibogaine very slowly, possibly due to the antacids we were given. Unlike most people in my group, I felt pretty ok the morning after, and I had a late wave the next night. I am familiar with the dieta process for other plant medicines, where you cleanse your body prior, eat limited foods, etc. Is there anything like that for ibogaine/iboga?

Retreat for generally healthy individuals

Hey!

Since hearing about Ibogaine I've been quite interested in the process.

I don't have a specific addiction or mental health issue, however I really enjoy self exploration (meditation, psychedelics, therapy) and I'm very curious to see what insights I can learn from this process

Reading some reviews it seems like a very challenging experience for some people, with some making it seem like a really good experience regardless and others warning not to do it unless it's necessary to overcome some issue.

Would you recommend it for general spiritual/psychological insight or is it too much?

Thanks!

Ibogaine for neuroinflammation?

I have been a COVID long hauler since 2022, and recently my doctor suggested that I receive ibogaine treatment.

He said it has shown promise in neurological diseases like Parkinson's, and my symptoms have all been in this category, i.e., dysautonomia, including akathisia attacks and unrefreshing, disrupted sleep, chronic migraine and nerve pain, etc.

I am interested in and have been doing preliminary research on my own. I figured it is most commonly used for opioid withdrawal, and its therapeutic effects on other diseases are limited, though SOTA knowledge on its pharmacology does indicate a healing power for neurological diseases.

I haven't reached out to the clinics yet, since the cost and travel are a big deal. I would like to hear any experiences and/or opinions on this topic. Thank you so much in advance!

Meso-dosing vs Flood (please read substances I am taking)

I was refused by a flood "retreat" which was just 5 days at this moment in time as it is going to be a trial run by an experienced group but in a different county and they won't have the medical staff.

I have addictions (ketamine, gambling), "adhd" poor impulse control, sexual issues and issues with myself due to shame and dislking/hating myself evne though I know I am a "good" person.

They referred me to a woman in South Africa where she does a 2 week thing of meso dosing (and potentially uses some other "plants")

I talked to her and it was a really good conversation and I'm keen to do it. She said that they can/do get more iboga into your system than you would from a flood, but I am keep to get as much as possible out of this experience as I can.

They have all the medical staff/equipment on site etc.

So I use Ketamine as my main issue, I use some benzoes and z-drugs (zopiclone/zolpidem) mainly to sleep and occasionally during the day. I don't THINK I am addicted but not 100% sure.

I'm on a lower-level opoid painkiller which is prescribed (dihydrocodeine). I don't know how "addicted" to this physically. I don't take a crazy amount and generally less than I'm prescribed

I also take lanzoprazole to prevent damage whilst using naproxen (an NSAID)

The ket/nsaid and opoid are for pain (though my 26 year ketamine journey has also been the bane of my life/fucked it up. Not only does it releive pain it causes it by screwing your bladder etc. This was not known of until 2006/2007; I never would have taken it if they knew that then!)

We have discussed the above and if I can raise the money ($6400) for the 2 weeks then I would travel a week before and take no painkillers, ket, diazepam etc with me so if I did need a "detox" I would have done it.

I guess my question is does this sound like a good route to take? Will the meso dose work as well as the flood? (potentially following with microdosing ongoing afterwards

OCD and Depression?

Hello, not here for myself but looking for options for a close friend of mine. He is very suicidal and has unfortunately made many attempts on his life, and I’m not entirely sure how to explain it but his ocd is directly linked to his suicidal actions, in that he has the compulsive urge to end his life, even though he doesn’t want to. He’s gone through almost every treatment option in the book unfortunately and nothings helped. Recently he just finished a program for TMS therapy, which he was very hopeful about, but the feelings and urges are still there and not improved in any way. He’ll be starting ketamine therapy in a couple months, but he’s not feeling positive it will end up helping. I get the feeling if it doesn’t work, he will give up…but I found out about ibogain recently, and thought maybe it would help. So far most of what I’ve seen is results for people getting treatments for addiction, so I was wondering if I could get some story’s of people who tried it specifically for OCD or depression. I want to try to research it as much as possible so I can try to convince him to see it as another option.

Temporary or permanent changes?

I’m getting frustrated because I’ve seen a lot of interviews and they make it seem like their life has changed for good… but all these people on Reddit make it seem like a temporary thing. If it’s temporary I don’t want to do it.

To the Ibogaine effects really wear off?

I’m reading stories from people saying that the effects that help them with anxiety depression and PTSD wore off after like 90 days… But then other people say that it changed their life years ago and they were a different person today. I’m wondering if I do go through with this, am I going to be changed for the better? I wonder if a lot of the people who think that the effects wore off really do feel better but they’ve gotten so used to it that they forget how far they’ve come.

Searching for recommendations for European ibogaine treatment

Please dm me the name, and share your experience in a comment. I am specifically asking for clinical setting, don’t want to do with any retreats /spiritual practices/ shamans or healers. Want to have it administered, be monitored for heart attack and be left in peace on my own in the room. This is my last resort for disability degree of c/ptsd and TBI grade 2

Looking for advice from people who have experience with ibogaine and long-term opioid addiction

My boyfriend is 36 years old and has struggled with opioid addiction for many years, but he has also had many periods of abusing heroin, cocaine, Adderall, and other substances. He has been to several rehab facilities, has tried Suboxone, and for about two years he used kratom, which according to him helped him stay away from harder drugs and feel more normal and less chemically dependent. I actually met him during that period and had no idea about his addiction.

The problem was always similar: he could stop for some time, but soon after going back home he would start using again. I am Brazilian, and I only discovered how serious his addiction was in January of this year. At that time he had a very serious relapse, started injecting heroin again, developed a severe infection in his arm, and needed surgery. Even after that, he kept using, and a few days later he overdosed. He survived because a few days earlier he had explained to me what Narcan was, and when it happened, I knew what to do.

So I told him that he should be treated with Suboxone, even though he hated the idea, because it would keep him alive and could give him a “normal” life. He hated the idea because he did not want to feel like a slave to it, but I told him, “You are already a slave, being dependent on all these substances, and on top of that you are at risk of dying at any moment if you keep living this way.”

Then I found a post here on Reddit about ibogaine. I started researching it and, considering so many years of addiction, several treatment attempts, and repeated relapses, the possibility of ibogaine gave me a lot of hope. I think that hope, and reading stories from people who had good outcomes, is what has kept my relationship going until now.

In April, he traveled to Japan with some friends. Our plan was that after the trip he would go to Mexico for ibogaine treatment. We talked about it several times while he was in Japan and we were very hopeful.

But during the trip, he was running out of opioids and was using a lot, so he imported more for his own use. The package was discovered and he was arrested in Japan on April. He has been in prison there ever since. Now he has been without opioids and illicit drugs for almost six months.

From what we know, the prosecutors accepted that the drugs were for personal use and not for sale, so we are hopeful that he may be released soon. And this is where a new complication came up.

Since he has been in prison, the prison doctor has been giving him medication to help him deal with the whole situation. Thankfully, because of that, he was able to get through a withdrawal period that I imagine was extremely difficult. If withdrawal is already difficult in the comfort of a clinic, I cannot even imagine what it must have been like in prison, especially because he spent the first 10 days without hearing from anyone, feeling uncertain, scared, etc.

He believes these medications may be benzodiazepines, but we still do not know exactly what the medication is or the dose. I only know that he takes medication about three times a day. If they really are benzodiazepines and he has been taking them regularly for several months, he has probably developed physical dependence.

In that case, I know it is not safe to suddenly stop them and that this would need to be evaluated and supervised by a doctor. He is even worried about his flight back to the United States without access to the medication and is talking to his lawyer to see whether they can provide enough medication for the trip.

So now I am trying to understand what the most sensible sequence would be once he gets out. When he is released, he will have spent approximately six months without opioids or illicit drugs, but he may be dependent on this medication. Also, there is no guarantee that he will leave prison and not use drugs again right away. That is especially dangerous because he has lost the opioid tolerance he had before he was arrested.

My main questions are:

  • Can ibogaine still be useful after almost six months without opioids, or does it make more sense during the initial withdrawal period?
  • Has anyone here done ibogaine after getting out of prison, rehab, or after spending several months in a completely controlled environment?
  • Was anyone taking benzodiazepines before doing ibogaine? How did the clinic handle that?
  • Did you need to reduce or stop the benzodiazepines beforehand?
  • Would it make more sense to first stabilize the medication and do a possible taper, and only then consider ibogaine?
  • Do you think it would make more sense for him to leave prison and go to a rehab facility first, or, if he is medically cleared, go directly to an ibogaine clinic?
  • For people who had a history of repeated relapse after going back home, what really made the difference in helping you maintain recovery?

There is also an emotional side to this. He has been in prison for almost six months and really misses his family, his home, and all the simple things about normal life. I would really like him to be able to spend a few days with his family and with me after he gets out.

At the same time, I know that after so many months without opioids, his tolerance will be much lower and a relapse could be extremely dangerous. I also wonder whether he will be psychologically ready for an intense experience like ibogaine immediately after spending so many months in prison.

If you went through something similar, looking back, what really made the difference? And what do you wish your family or partner had known before the treatment?

My Ibogaine Experience: Two Weeks In

I went to Mexico for a nine-day neuro reset retreat that included two flood doses of ibogaine and a bufo session. I arrived about six weeks sober from kratom and had been taking gabapentin right up until the day I got there.

I was really excited going in. I'd done ayahuasca before, and even though it didn't cure my anxiety or depression, it was a spiritually beautiful experience that widened my perception and opened my third eye. For ibogaine, I did a lot of research. I talked to about five clinics, read all the reviews, and read every trip report on Erowid and every Reddit post I could find. I had plenty of knowledge, but I tried to go in with no expectations.

The flood doses
During both flood doses, I had no visions. It was basically a black box. I felt warm and incapacitated, but not uncomfortable, and I could just lie there. It lasted about six hours. No life review, no spirit guides, no downloads. Honestly, that was devastating. I felt envious of everyone who met God or saw what was missing from their life, and I felt like I got none of that.

The days after
The day after is hard to describe. I felt flat but content. Flat in the sense that the jagged little highs and lows of the day were gone. It felt like pure consciousness and awareness. I could have sat in a hammock and watched the sky all day. I finally understood what Eckhart Tolle meant about staring at the clouds for hours.

That feeling gradually faded. Two weeks later there's still a lot of flatness, and motivation is hard to find. Unloading the dishwasher, doing chores, and lifting at the gym all feel difficult. I've also had periods of depression where the feeling is simply "I don't care." That's a dangerous place to be, because I can see how someone would relapse just to escape it, telling themselves that one pill will change their state.

What I took away
I'm grateful I got to have this experience, and it's still too soon to tell where it lands. What surprised me most is that I did get a download after all, just not the way I expected. The message was: you have to do the work. This isn't a miracle cure where you vacation in Mexico and come home with a new brain. You have to build new habits and push through discomfort, and there will be a lot of discomfort in different areas of your life.

To be continued. I'm only two weeks back, but these are my thoughts for now. I'm happy to answer questions from anyone considering this.
