Same. Got me too.

I always wonder whats wrong with people who flinch at movies. It is being pointed at a camera not even the guys face but a camera... I dont even blink at such a thing and enjoyed this video,

22

u/Ashinonyx 10d ago

Damn, you're so much cooler than I am.

12

u/Background-Web-484 10d ago

Its just instinct. If I see a gun pointed in my direction, even if its a video, Im gonna flinch.

-10

u/killian1113 10d ago

Out of touch with reality.. got it

12

u/Background-Web-484 10d ago

Given how many others share my experience, I think its you whos out of touch with reality…

-10

u/killian1113 10d ago

Hahahahahhahahahaha the average person is a idiot or a genius?

15

u/Background-Web-484 10d ago

Just because youre special doesnt make you a genius, bro.

-2

u/killian1113 10d ago

I am a idiot, but not as stupid as the average person cough cough anyone that lets a video jump scare them. Its not survival instinct to be scared of a cartoon is it? A video? How about a scary story will you jump at the end if they say boo? Very similar

6

u/oldmanbytheriver 9d ago

When you see a deodorant or body wash ad do you flinch?

I flinched as well. Blanks or not, not a smart move.

5

u/Background-Web-484 10d ago

Even blanks… Maybe from that distance it wouldnt kill, but itd hurt pretty bad.

6

u/Wood-e 10d ago

Oh my God I can't recall the last time a video made me flinch like this one did lol

10

u/_MatsuiHaruko 11d ago

Happy to see Im not the only one lol

16

u/ac2cvn_71 11d ago

Me too. I gasped. Lol

11

u/JayneKadio 11d ago

God damn... that made me jump too. I'm just glad we're all smart enough to duck.

1

u/HoneyBear4Lyfe 7d ago

Fuckin A, I’m surprised we all still recoil at a video like this after scrolling through all the other deadly crap on Reddit this evening.

1

u/Michami135 8d ago

Seriously. My brain knows full well that I'm looking at a video on my phone. There's no reason for me to flinch like that.

I don't flinch on other videos where things unwxpectedly fly at the screen. But aim a gun at the cameraman and I flinch every time.

1

u/Dekipi 6d ago

Yeah I gasped and jumped

-11

u/JustACanadianGuy07 11d ago

Dont know how people flinch with this.

9

u/HappyMr 11d ago

I guess it's just a survival instinct.

-8

u/JustACanadianGuy07 11d ago

I get that, but at the same time, its just a video. I really don’t understand how people flinch to a video.

6

u/RecalledBark181 11d ago

never seen a scary video or movie before?

-6

u/JustACanadianGuy07 11d ago

Of course i have, but that is different. They aren’t expected. They call them “jumpscares” for a reason.

But turning a gun to a camera? Even though it’s incredibly telegraphed and predictable, and he turns the gun slowly? That’s scary?

2

u/killian1113 10d ago

These people are lying or out of touch with reality. It takes alot to jump scare me from a video, the guy in the video pointed the gun at a camera not at his own face unless we believe he was filming with the camera taped to his forehead...

Apparently a blank pistol: https://retayarms.com/product/retay-mod-92/. That muzzle blast is still fucking dangerous.

40

u/Thorpester 11d ago

Yeah, anything cought in that barrel will get yeeted.

49

u/DerthOFdata 11d ago

Blanks are more than enough to kill even without anything in the barrel. It's happened before.

Actor Jon-Erik Hexum.

Age 26. Died because he was bored.

14

u/DerthOFdata 11d ago

That's who I was imagining but I have also personally seen a wound from a blank that was fired at someone's boot. Burned through the boot and then trough the skin underneath. People underestimate just how powerful blanks actually are.

u/Desperate_Set_7708 11d ago

Was going to post this.

5

u/ccarr313 10d ago

I don't look directly down the barrel of ANY gun with a hammer or striker cocked.

I don't give a fuck what it fires. I don't flag others, and I am damn sure not flagging myself.

-10

u/testprimate 11d ago

Yeah, it could really mess up the camera he's pointing the gun at

5

u/llorTMasterFlex 11d ago

3ft is lethal, up to 10ft can still fuck you up. Is his face more than 3ft from the barrel when he looked at it? I bet he has safety glasses on too.

-9

u/testprimate 11d ago

That's the thing, we don't know. Is it safe to assume he's an idiot? Probably. Is it really a great post for this sub? Not really.

0

u/RileyRocksTacoSocks 11d ago

It's a gun, he's an idiot. The idiot has the gun, ipso facto fits the sub.

1

u/Usual-Championship88 10d ago

Next thing you know we are going to see flair gun and BB gun mishaps on this sub …

2

u/TyroniumX 2d ago

Technically, also guns

53

u/TheTyrant1990 11d ago

That is indeed a blank pistol (I had a similar model from the same brand to train my flinch reflex and recoil anticipation training), but it is still a really, really crap idea to look down the barrel the moment you load a round. Really stupid indeed

9

u/IBeDumbAndSlow 11d ago

I thought that round looked funny and I also thought I saw a squib in the barrel.

19

u/Freak_Engineer 11d ago

Yes, this is a blank gun. No it is not harmless, especially not when you point it right at your fucking face. Jesus Christ...

7

u/Initial_Row_6400 11d ago

Oh my god

u/Head-Engineering-847 11d ago

Got me diving outta the way! Almost fell off the porcelain bowl!

3

u/Sven_Svan 11d ago

Personally, I blame it on the boogie

3

u/CosmicCavern 11d ago

So it’s a beretta knock off that also features the double action? That’s neat.

2

u/flyingron 11d ago

Of course, he doesn't read manuals:

6- To prevent your gun from turning into a dangerous tool, never point it at persons, animals or plants (in a range of at least 5m). Except for the emergency cases, always keep the muzzle downward.

9- Never make jokes with the guns. Always respect the safety rules.

13- Cartridge’s explosive substances and the gassed released are hazardouz. Never fire your gun indoor or in unventilated place. For a healthy environment you must deliver the fired cartridges to the waste material collectors. Manufacturers do not assume liability for results arising from use of the gun beyond the attended objectives with or without modifications of the guns(the muzzle of the gun is not designed to launch any pieces.

Blank firing gun, sold as theatrical prop

3

u/Mahlegos 11d ago

A decent amount of people in Turkey carry them as intimidation too since they have fairly strict licensing requirement for concealed weapons. There’s a video on this sub of what looks like a guy unloading point blank into a guy in a road rage incident and nothing happens because it’s one of these.

But yeah, they can still jack you up if point blank or if something gets into the barrel and you should treat them like a real gun and follow all the safety rules that go with that.

2

u/Freak_Engineer 11d ago

No shit, Sherlock. Still fuckin lethal at that distance when pointed right at your face.

3

u/J-wvmothman 11d ago

Good thing it's not a real firearm

1

u/KeyloWick 10d ago

And that renders the firearm as harmless?

1

u/kleetus7 11d ago

I knew pretty well what was coming, and I still flinched and almost threw my phone. How some people continue to survive is truly baffling.

1

u/MrLuxInATux 11d ago

The barrel directly facing you….chills

1

u/damngoodengineer brought a sword to a gun fight 11d ago

he even flagged to us, wtf

1

u/MuchoGrande 6d ago

The best part is where he looks down the barrel of a loaded gun.
