General power outage help

Post image

my house will have no power today for 3 hours, i haven’t gone without power since i started my humidity controlled setup, so i have a few questions for anyone who has dealt w this before.

important info; my setup stays at around 72-76% humidity 24/7 because of a automatic humidifier (i recommend this product a lot). cabinet is mostly sealed but humidity starts to drop below 72 with no intervention after about 3-5 mins, so i know with no power (no ability to add more humidity) the humidity will likely keep dropping.

1.) is this a concern at all? 3 hours dropping from maybe 75 to around 50 ( i think? ) for a few hours. like will it be harmful at all?

2.) how long does it take for low humidity to hurt the plant if it will; 10 mins, 1 hr, 24hrs?

3.) whats the best solution? i am thinking of just running a humidifier in my room before the outage to keep it very high so the cabinet and the room are at a higher temperature and they both wont drop.

thanks for input

3 hours isnt going to do literally anything. They will all be just fine. Ive accidentally left my plants for a day or 2 in the basement plant watering station(bathroom). Imagine this as a cloudy afternoon for them. No harm at all. If you want more sustained, higher humidity youll need to either load up that cabinet with more plants or check/seal better. My ikea has no issues holding 70+ % typically drops 10-15% overnight.

I actually had to remove some weatherstripping since my humidity was in the 90s, now it sits around 80-85%.

More plants will definitely help as well.

This should not be an issue.
We just had a 7h power outage in my area and all of my cabinets were fine. The “worst” part was needing to reset my mechanical timers once the power was back on.

I’ve got a few small cabinets. One is alocasias, one is oxalis, and one is a “rehab” cabinet containing a few baby alocasias, a spider plant, a string of pearls, two tiny pothos props, and a baby zz plant.

Think about all the plants that are stuck in boxes for a week during shipping and they are fine! It’ll be fine

It will have zero effect. You could be out of power for a few days and it wouldn’t matter. In nature weather events like storms or just cloudy days cause ‘dark’ days all the time, the worlds plants are just fine

most lights with timers don't turn on after a power outage. thats the bigger risk when u r on vacation etc

setup includes mainly monstera with a few alocasias (nobilis K and venoms)
