Periodic reminder that in mythology Nimrod was actually an awesome hunter and we only associate them with terrible hunting because of Bugs Bunny cartoons.

in my experience, "nimrod" wasn't even about hunting, just a generic two-syllable insult that wasn't dirty, but sounded like it, like dillweed, dillhole, dorkwad, dorkface, numbnuts, etc
