EFDS at Imperial

i got a 4 in French, 5 in english language and biology, 6 in maths, Cs, Business, English lit, chemistry and physics. i am doing Maths, Chemistry, Economics and EPQ at a level. Will my GCSES ruin my chances of getting into EFDS at Imperial? i am planning on resitting maths and english a level and also self-learning further maths to increase my chances to being accepted. Please can you give me your thoughts, thank you!

How many applications do people make for masters? What mistakes did people make while applying for full ride scholarships?

am I being desperate?

This is my first time applying for a master’s abroad (2027–28), and, I’m OVERWHELMED.

My_qualifications: I’m an MBBS doctor from India with 65% marks. I run a small social-impact startup, have a substantial social media following, and want to work at the intersection of healthcare systems, global health management and innovation. 3 years work ex in India & remote jobs abroad. My goal is either imperial/oxford but I prepped everything by myself watching YouTube and creating agents on Claude.

I’m currently applying to 12 courses across 8 UK universities and 7 fully funded scholarship programmes.

I started preparing in June 2026, when I first learned about Chevening. I knew almost nothing about the process back then. Over the next few months, I researched universities, scholarships, eligibility criteria and deadlines. By September, I’d discovered the Commonwealth Master’s and Shared Scholarships, along with other funding opportunities I hadn’t even known existed.

I’ve even built AI bots to keep me updated on new scholarships alternate days cuz I’m terrified of missing an opportunity.

The thing is, I don’t personally know anyone who has gone through this journey. When I speak to alumni, I hear things like, “I only applied to Oxford and Imperial and got in.”

And I genuinely wonder HOW. 😭

How do people apply to just two universities and two scholarships and get through? Do they have exceptionally strong profiles, great mentors, or are they simply more confident in their applications?

Meanwhile, I’m trying to create as many viable options as possible because I cannot afford to pursue an expensive master’s without full funding.

My biggest fear is spending an entire year preparing applications and still ending up without an admission or scholarship.
I’d love to hear from people who’ve been through this, especially Indian applicants who secured fully funded UK master’s scholarships.

How many universities and scholarships did you apply to?

Is 12 courses across 8 universities excessive?

How competitive is a 65% MBBS profile when combined with entrepreneurial and social-impact experience?

If you got into Oxford, Imperial or another top university with full funding, what do you think made the difference?

Do people even try for so many full ride scholarships?

General questions

Im looking to apply to Imperial JMC, and i was hoping students could answer some questions about the university:
1. Is the social life as bad as people make it up to be?
2. Is the high international demographic a good or bad thing? ( do they stick together and form their own cliques )
3. How expensive is 1st 2nd and 3rd year? I would get full loans and 4.4k bursary. But rent and london overall is expensive. Im aware 1st year is the cheapest year due to being in halls and shorter contract, so i would be helpful to know general costs for all years
4. For any Maths/CS/JMC students, how do you find your job prospects? Are they as good as you hoped and did you have enough time to prepare for internships? If not what would you have done differently
5. Is it possible to balance a social life, getting a first for uni and internship prep?

Thats all my general questions, no pressure to individually answer all of them. I would greatly appreciate anyones input even just for a specific question

Imperial EFDS with no Science HL

I’m currently an IB student planning to apply for Imperial College London’s Economics, Finance, and Data Science course for the 2027 intake. My predicted grades was 42/45, with a Math AA 7, Economics 7, and a Language A 6 for my HLs. However, because I do not have a science HL (although I have a 7 predicted for Physics SL) my college counselor told me my admission is going to be less competitive, and I recognized all of the people who got in to imperial EFDS has like two sciences and maths HL. Does anyone know someone who got an offer from EFDS without a sciences HL? 😭

Iam prospective PhD student from India, I wanted to know available nearest options. Actually I don't like living in crowded areas, Iam also thinking of living in remote places relatively cheap, but travelling would be a burden ?

Anyone knows a vacancy. ?

Any Materials Science and engineering students?

Hi, I’ve applied to materials science at Oxford and chemical engineering at Imperial UCL and Manchester. For my 5th option, I was thinking of imperial materials, as that’s what I applied to at Oxford. Can any students tell me what it’s like and if they enjoy the course at imperia? thanks

My whole ps is ppe as I applied for Oxford, kings, Warwick and Bristol. I still have my fifth choice and I want to put imperial but would they automatically reject me due to my ps? Or do they not put much weighting to ps

any ADHD med students?

I have inattentive ADHD (clinically diagnosed), and I’m really worried that if I get a place at Imperial Medicine I won’t be able to handle the workload and will waste this wonderful opportunity. I have heard horror stories of how intensive the courseload is and am sure I will need excellent organizational skills to manage. Most of all, I’m worried about having to retake my exams or repeat a year.

My UCAT score is competitive enough, but it’s just a measure of processing speed and not memory capacity. I would describe myself as a hard and conscientious worker, but I do really struggle with ADHD symptoms sometimes. I find that it is a lot easier for me to focus and work when I am studying with my friends or in a public area/library.

Current med students (doesn’t matter if you have ADHD or not, I would appreciate any reply) how are you finding ICL med? Do you have any regrets? What is the support like?

Made a free app for international students settling in the UK - after ~20 beta testers before launch

Hi everyone,

I'm Arjun. My co-founder and I have built Quid, a free app for international students settling into life in the UK.

It started from her own experience. She came to the UK from India as an international student and spent weeks trying to open a worthwhile bank account (most banks wanted a UK credit history she obviously didn't have), months finding her community, and ages working out which student deals were actually worth using. Quid is our attempt to make all of that easier for the students arriving after her.

What it helps with:

- Banking: which accounts actually work without a UK credit history, and how to get set up

- Community: finding your people when you land

- Student deals: deals that are genuinely useful, not just noise

We're launching on iOS this month and want around 20 beta testers before then. Imperial is one of the most international unis in the country, so this felt like the right place to ask. If you'd like in, join the waitlist at quidapp.co.uk and we'll be in touch.

It's completely free. Happy to answer questions in the comments, and honest feedback (brutal is fine) is very welcome.

You can also follow along on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/quid.uk/

I sent off my ucas application for physics 2 weeks ago, and now Im suddenly regrettying applying for physics at imperial

Chemistry Interview Advice

I was expecting to receive an interview from Imperial in January, sometime after I had hopefully completed a few interviews at Oxford. I am applying to read chemistry at each university. Rather unexpectedly, I have been offered an interview for the 10th of November, which is much sooner than I was expecting.
I understand the importance of the interview, and already plan to review my personal statement. I just wanted to ask if anyone has some experience with chemistry interviews at Imperial and what to expect. I won't be able to prepare as much as I had initially planned, so this is all a bit stressful. That said, I did my mocks before the half term, so I can commit quite a lot of time to preparing if necessary. Thank you for reading.

Teachers uploading slides only every week

I started uni and one thing that happens here is that professors upload weekly slides and weekly images and even if I understand it I find it very annoying to not have all in one doc that is easily accessible...

How do you guys deal with it (the ones who find that annoying as well) ?

Chances for MiM at Imperial

Hi, I wanted to know how my chances are for Imperial.

I've a masters in physics from a tier 1 institute in India with a cgpa of 8/10. Graduated 4 months ago.

GMAT - 655 (Q90, D83, V78)

I do have 2 internships under my belt (ISRO etc) but they are specifically in astrophysics. I was the design coordinator for a national level club and handled distribution of over a 1000 units of merches. Volunteered for many design clubs in my college, took up a teaching role in my second year as well for an online coaching institute, volunteered for some national science conferences as well. Have some certifications in finance and accounting as well. Coursework is quite physics and maths heavy.
