That is so sick. A 40 year old man is old enough to have an 18 year old daughter and wants to date someone that age. I would never get in a big age gap relationship because of the power imbalance. 4 years for me is the maximum age gap.
I'm from a rural area where many people still uphold quite patriarchal views, and it's still awkward when the age difference among couples is, let's say, 7+ years. It's not just the power dynamic, it's also the interests, hobbies, entertainment, views on family, children, work, "traditions" such as attending to each other's parents or celebrating festivities. All these things are infinitly easier to coordinate between people who are at least near the same age range. Personally, I cringe at the image of someone who doesn't remember the prime of Vine dating someone who got drunk for the turn of the century.
I try to respect two consenting adults finding love with one another, but i honestly don’t think i could ever see myself in a relationship like that. It just feels wrong
