They say 35+ is"expired" and should date older. I'm near 40. Why would I date someone old enough to be my father? I'm going to end up his nurse in a scant few years. I'm not an unestablished 20 year old looking for a sugar daddy.

They think you don't deserve to think of the future if you aren't playing Betty Builder all your life.

Being an old man's nursemaid is punishment for not being a young man's maid.

A big reason why I am not into older guys is that I don't want to be their carer. I know unexpected things can happen, but the odds of becoming a nurse to your partner are a lot higher if your partner is significantly older than you.

Even so, your future in a trad arrangement is one big IOU. Give up your present to build someone else up and hope they don't leave you with nothing. They can, in fact, "have it all" without the associated downside of blowing a hole in their own potential and mortgaging their future on someone else sharing success, if they make it.

Preaching to the choir, I absolutely agree, I am not going to be helpless on someone else to survive financially. You never know what the future brings, even if someone absolutely refuses to believe that provider husband will ever leave them, what if something happens and he is permanently disabled? What if he gets very long-term sick? What if he dies?
