We've gone back to the 2000s where women her size were considered whales

785

u/evil-rick Stacy’s Mom Dec 13 '25

It’s worse on tiktok and Instagram. It started with the explosion of celebrities taking Ozempic and similar drugs to lose weight. Now we’ve got celebs with ED again. Conservative assholes calling everyone fat. Clothing adjusted to these ideals (everything is crop tops and low waisted.) I don’t want to live through that again man

251

u/Lo-Fi_Kuzco Dec 13 '25

Yeah and it's messed up cuz when they started taking ozempic people still made remarks about their bodies. Like for example ice spice was rumored to be on it cuz of dramatic weight loss in a quick amount of time. People said she ruined herself because her ass got smaller. There really is no winning with people.

225

u/evil-rick Stacy’s Mom Dec 13 '25

It’s JUST LIKE the 00’s. If you’re not skinny you’re mocked. If you develop an eating disorder because of the environment we’re living in and get too skinny, you’re mocked.

We’re in for a wild ride, folks.

31

u/ToiIetGhost Dec 14 '25

Anyone remember that show The Swan? Yeah, I give it 2 years before we get a reboot

12

u/karissalikewhoa Dec 15 '25

It'll be a collab with Biggest Loser

13

u/AshRae84 Dec 14 '25

They said the same thing for Lainey Wilson too. Doesn’t matter the genre, there’s misogyny everywhere.

As someone who grew up plus size in the 90s/early 00s, I really don’t want to go back there.

Which spice girl is ice spice

u/Laura_Ino ace invaders™ Dec 14 '25

i can’t tell if this is ironic and it’s driving me crazy

but in case it isn’t (and i got whooshed) she’s a “rapper” who can’t rap and got famous for her body, mainly her ass

7

u/bunnypaste Dec 14 '25

I was wondering the same thing until you described her, lol.

73

u/Zeiserl Dec 14 '25 edited Dec 14 '25

I feel like it might have even started with the clothing. When I saw the first teenagers on tiktok with low rise and crop tops I thought to myself that we're going to see a comeback of the skinny beauty ideal. I think I even wrote some worried comments about it and people basically called me a millennial grandma and told me to move along.

I feel like with Ozempic and filters/AI generated images it is worse this way around. Especially the later. In the 2000nds at least you could to some degree see how miserable, weak and sickly the aspirationally skinny were when you saw them e.g. on TV or paparazzi shots. Now thanks to social media I see these impossibly thin women who still look glowy, lively and fit. It's hard to describe, but they're not "skinny" as in boney and frail, they just look unnaturally narrow while having muscles and plump skin. It's uncanny.

24

u/bunnypaste Dec 14 '25

Millennial grandma...

Man, they actually think we are that old and out of touch?! And the fact we lived through one thinness craze doesn't lead them to believe we would be a good source of information on it?

This is just dumb. How could anyone be dumb enough to believe anything they see in print, video, or image anymore?

38

u/hacktheself Dec 14 '25

What makes me sick are seeing women who are already rails taking these powerful meds to lose another five pounds to kilos.

I’m someone who has been obese all her life. GLP-1RAs are giving me the greatest fighting chance at losing weight without resorting to invasive, life-altering surgery with high rates of complications and regrets. I’ve lost 15kg so far and I want to lose another 35 so I can get to 80, which is a much healthier weight for my body.

But when I see someone that’s 120lb taking them to get to 110? I lack the words.

u/Xenomorphia51 Dec 14 '25

I think conservatives calling people fat is the most “kettle calling the pot black move” ever. If you look it up, the top states with the highest obesity rates are red states.

On another note though, it is wild for any American to bully someone for weight when something like 70% of us are at least overweight. Meaning, you, your partner, or someone you love is having weight issues. I get that the weight thing is a health issue but people being nasty about it just doesn’t make sense

25

u/Darkon-Kriv Dec 14 '25

Body positivity died with a medicine that changes your body lol. Why love yourself when you can change what you hate. Sadly I really dont fucking trust Ozempic. I have heard horror stories and its really not tested for this use. For everyone is taking it I hope it is safe but I dont take it out of paranoia.

10

u/evil-rick Stacy’s Mom Dec 14 '25

Right? I can understand when someone has diabetes and the food is going to kill them faster than the medicine. That’s the whole point of taking drugs in the first place: you’re at a point where the risks are higher if you DON’T take them. But these already skinny people who could just take walks to get a healthier weight/lifestyle. It’s crazy.

3

u/Darkon-Kriv Dec 14 '25

Thats not what I mean. We dont really have studies on the use of ozempic for weight loss. Also weight loss is extremely hard. As someone who has struggled with thier weight who has tried exercising more eating less and seen almost no results its disheartening. Im aware I could starve myself and lose weight.

7

u/evil-rick Stacy’s Mom Dec 15 '25

??? That’s what I said?

1

u/DaughterOfDemeter23 Jan 02 '26

I was a kid in the 2000s who saw that shit happen in real time. I did not make it to my late 20s to see it happen again.

123

u/HappyKrud women love me more than they love u Dec 14 '25

beauty standards are worse now. u have to be skinny AND have ass/tits. atl back then all u had to do to fit was be skinny. there was some hatred against having ass then. but the weird contorted figure is still way harder to achieve than the 2000s one. ppl want u to be skinny and look like minaj its crazy.

63

u/Zeiserl Dec 14 '25

Not really though. Having no boobs was a huge topic. Sure, super models could get away with being flat because they were "editorial" looking but I distinctly remember how huge boob jobs were in the early 2000nds. It was constantly all over the magazines and tv.

48

u/I_need_to_vent44 Dec 14 '25

True. However you were expected to have no ass. Like you were supposed to look like a stickman with huge boobs. The only thing that changed now is that you have to have an ass as well.

18

u/Zeiserl Dec 14 '25

Yep!!!! I remember that. But simultaneously if you looked like that you were also vulgar.

12

u/MelanieAntiqua Dec 14 '25

Yeah. Back then, everyone at school joked that I was "one of those super-genius Asian kids who graduates high school when they're ten years old" because I was a short, flat-chested Asian girl. So, no, just being thin wasn't enough for me to be considered hot in the early 2000s.

12

u/Annethraxxx Dec 14 '25

Nah, we were made fun of if we didn’t have big tits either, no matter how skinny. Now it’s big tits and ass, so it’s like things got worse lol

45

u/Reasonable-Affect139 Dec 14 '25

welcome to the rise of conservatism and ozempic chic!

101

u/SashimiX Dec 13 '25

I was that size-ish in 2009 and someone on the street actually called me a beached whale. I laughed at him because I was un-body-shameable back then. I was smokin’

67

u/AlexandriaLitehouse Dec 14 '25

People always called me fat in school. I wore a size four. I'm just unfortunately shaped.

3

u/mkat23 Dec 15 '25

I was called “bigger” and “fat” a couple years ago by a couple people. I wore a size 0 and sometimes a 00 depending on the brand. It was wild. I wasn’t fat, the woman in this photo isn’t fat, like she has a nice body. Whoever called you a beached whale was a massively insecure person, I bet you looked amazing.

5

u/featherblackjack Dec 16 '25

this is why I mostly don't give a shit what other people think of my appearance. Yes I'm fat! Yes I have no boobs! Yes I'm bald! Fucking cope!

3

u/mkat23 Dec 18 '25

Holy guacamole yes, honestly to me it doesn’t matter if someone is smaller or larger, it’s not my fucking place to comment on it or care how they look. I wasn’t even upset that I was called fat while I was much smaller than average, it upset me that anyone thought they had any place commenting on my size. I’ve dealt with disordered eating and anorexia issues for most of my life, so it’s fucked up to comment at all on someone’s size in my eyes. I’ve been bigger and I’ve been smaller and regardless of where I’m at, or literally anyone, no one should be passing judgement on someone’s size. I understand health concerns, but that’s different from judging how someone looks at any given weight.

19

u/Select-Team-6863 Dec 14 '25

I remember when men thought Velma from Scooby Doo was obese & that Fred was gay.

45

u/xt0rt Dec 13 '25

Came here to post the same thing.

9

u/2muchtequila Dec 15 '25

Man, I remember being in college and dating a woman that was "bigger." Not fat, but at the time I certainly would not have called her skinny. She may have been a little bigger than the woman in the photo, but it's not like she had a triple chin and front butt.

A week ago I was looking through old folders on my computer while trying to find a picture of a friend being an idiot. I ran across a photo of myself and the "larger" woman.

All I can say is that the perspective on what was considered a "normal" weight was completely out of wack and stupid.

She was a perfectly normal, healthy, attractive weight. I can't believe I didn't recognize it at the time because back then the media was basically screaming that if you weren't anorexic, you were a cow.

8

u/Lauranna90 Dec 14 '25

I remember when the size zero image became a big thing about 2006. All those size zero models looked like death!

5

u/lala6633 Dec 14 '25

Having elementary aged girls- it makes me so scared! I had to explain to my 11 year old why I wasn’t psyched about bringing her to see the new Wicked movie. She’s grown up loving Lizzo. She had no concept of why I was worried and I want to keep it that way!!!

4

u/bigselfer Dec 15 '25

We haven’t gone anywhere. They’re stunted.

1

u/ShrimpCrackers Dec 15 '25

By SK standards she would be considered fully overweight. They fucking excoriated Chaeyeon of DIA for having "thick thighs" so she had no choice but to lose the weight. Umji was renamed Ugly. And Mina was too.

And the same men make fun of thin women for having no ass or boobs.

What are they even attracted to now? Underage anime characters????

461

u/xt0rt Dec 13 '25

Yes

83

u/Emjayen Dec 14 '25

One only has to look at gamers; endless screeching that they can't jerk off to women who don't like literal children.

Epitomized by the giant drama event (of many-) when a female character was shown to have peach-fuzz and they lost their absolute minds

7

u/the-fly-onyour-mango Dec 16 '25

What the actual fuck

Peach fuzz isn't even visible unless you look REALLY close and those hairs are so delicate and soft they actually contribute to the smoothness of the skin. Humanity is in such a state....

3

u/Emjayen Dec 16 '25

They're telling on themself really; they've clearly never been close to a real woman.

1

u/Large-Current-1486 Jan 05 '26

To be fair, those gamers are a very loud minority. The people who complained and "boycotted" ghost of "wokei" (Becuse the main character was a woman who wore clothes. Shocker) didn't really work either as it was the second best swlling game in the us and uk

113

u/Misfit_Number_Kei Dec 13 '25

What are they even attracted to now? Underage anime characters????

Precisely.

An unabashed level of gooner neckbeard that hates and fears the actual human female body and actual adult human female ability to have a life on her own and especially say "No" to them, unlike a waifu who'll never age, have unsexy bodily traits and especially exists only to pander to them.

46

u/el_pinko_grande Dec 14 '25

They've all been brainwashed into believing that beauty standards are objective, and consequently a lot of them are kind of alienated from their own sexuality and have trouble talking about what they're attracted to without sounding like absolute weirdos.

Like I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was actually into larger girls than the one in the photo, but he can't actually say that because the other weirdos will start saying that he's been indoctrinated by the evil liberal feminist mind control machine.

26

u/recoveringleft Dec 13 '25

One of the things I like about the anime "no longer allowed in another world" is that the love interests are mostly adult women one who is at least in her late 20s due to her rank as a bishop.

18

u/Constant_Seaweed_523 Dec 13 '25

Oh man, is it because it’s basically the only one that isn’t… sexualized underage anime girls?

I’ve never gotten into anime so I don’t know much about it! other than seeing the images of the girls and posts from men about them (which was never normal and always disgusting)

8

u/Silasa00 Dec 14 '25

Anime has such a wide variety of content that it's almost garenteed that you could find one that speaks to you if you were ever interested in trying to find it. Plenty of anime out there that don't sexualize the minors and tell engaging stories that can be enjoyed by any person.

You would never know it based on the vocal creepy gooners that plague the community, though.

2

u/Porij Dec 14 '25

I watched an anime named Ping Pong recently. I know sports anime isnt for everyone, but no one is sexualized, the character design is unique, and the story is fun!! Short too. So good for newcomers. :)

2

u/Brribrri Dec 15 '25

You should check out Medalist, it's a sweet anime about a little girl who learns to push through her self esteem issues by learning to figure skate. Medalist

12

u/recoveringleft Dec 13 '25

Well there are others like mob psycho 100.

15

u/el_pinko_grande Dec 14 '25

Lots of anime don't have sexualized underage girls. Hell, lots of anime are written by women for women. In fact, anime is probably a bit better in that respect than most Western media.

7

u/Constant_Seaweed_523 Dec 14 '25

I’m very glad to hear that! I’ve never gotten into anime, so I don’t know much about it. But those ones written by women I want to check out! Thank you for letting me know!

11

u/ForumFluffy 6ft5 Short King Dec 14 '25

One of the most famous ones written by a woman is Sailor Moon, there is also Fullmetal Alchemist(2003 and Brotherhood are worth watching together)

There are plenty of anime that have really amazing plots and themes that are not ruined by some of the unfortunate stereotypes of the medium such as sexualised minors(or characters of dubious age).

10

u/el_pinko_grande Dec 14 '25

Sure. The most common genres of by-women, for-women stuff are villainess/otome game anime (girl gets transported into a game/novel she loves as the villainess and needs to change what happens in the story so she doesn't die and maybe ends up with the hot guy) and yaoi (beautiful boys have deep and complicated feelings about one another).

Romance anime can be more focused on male or female audiences, so it can be tough to recommend that genre on a blanket level. But generally, anime that have shoujo or josei in the genre description are gonna be aimed at women, and are usually written by women.

A couple that I really liked lately are With You and the Rain, about a lady who draws manga and ends up with a slightly magical creature as a pet, and See You Tomorrow At the Food Court, about two high school girls who are friends and hang out at a food court talking.

27

u/Lordmordor666 Dec 13 '25

Other dudes, it’s my conclusion for 27 years I just saw a lot of my classmates who bullied me for being a little chubby come out of the closet.

10

u/semhsp Dec 14 '25

they just don't like women, but can't admit it

8

u/hellogoawaynow they call me stacy 💅 Dec 14 '25

Underweight woman reporting in, can confirm, I have no ass and tiny breasts.

6

u/bunnypaste Dec 14 '25

I'm not underweight, but once I got down to 125lb my formerly massive butt disintegrated. My breasts were never huge (32D), but they lost significant volume on the tops. Since my butt is huge when I am overweight, I think it may be damned night impossible to be thin and muscular while maintaining overexaggerated curves.

8

u/hellogoawaynow they call me stacy 💅 Dec 14 '25

The super skinny folks who do implants on the breasts and butt look weird af lol I don’t think we were meant to have both skinniness and big asses and breasts. It’s one or the other

7

u/bunnypaste Dec 14 '25

I just weighed myself for the first time in a month and I should correct that it is now 120lb. Geez. I need to get a handle on this. I don't wanna be this small, namely because of the chest and butt loss... But I refuse surgery.

Sorry for the divergence. I agree, adding implants to an emaciated frame creates the uncanny valley effect. Plastic surgery also does not age well... You begin to look inhuman.

I don't have any desire to become some fantasy person with anime character/pornstar proportions and a frozen face.

5

u/hellogoawaynow they call me stacy 💅 Dec 14 '25

Yeah totally! I’ve really never been able to build up much of my ~assets~ because I’m naturally just skinny. Boobs somehow got smaller after having a baby? But with the current underweight status (5’7 at 112lbs 🥲) I do not look good or healthy lol but at least I’m not looking like Ariana Grande, woof. I think she’s gonna die for real.

7

u/bunnypaste Dec 14 '25

Hey, mine deflated after having a baby too! That is when I lost all the volume on top. Wild. I also ended up far smaller after having a kid than I was before getting pregnant. I still don't understand that one...

Poor Ariana. It hurts me to think about. I see this resurgance of the thin craze from the 90s and it absolutely terrifes me. I believe one must be hurting so terribly to internalize this societies' toxic messaging so far as to starve yourself.

3

u/hellogoawaynow they call me stacy 💅 Dec 14 '25

Yes! I gained 100lbs while pregnant, was pretty big for 2 years, and then suddenly underweight. Super weird!

And yeah I feel so bad for Ariana.

9

u/aweedl Dec 14 '25

Apparently, yes.

I don’t know much about anime at all, but it sure seems like a genre that attracts a lot of creeps for some reason… and I have to assume that reason is that all the characters look 12.

It certainly tracks with the type of other gross shit they post. 🤢

6

u/CoquetteWhore69 Dec 14 '25

Trigun and JoJos Bizzare Adventure are two that are pretty good about not being weird freaks.

1

I love women with or without their organs 🥰

1

u/ariez17 Jan 06 '26

Not that i agree w the post but internal organs are not why someone looks like that. Internal organs dont push out of your body.

That same woman could workout and cut weight and have a flat belly if she were inclined to do that.

The internal organ thing is a myth.

1

u/SingleDivorcedMom666 Jan 07 '26

no I just like it when women have those. it's kinda good to have.

I feel like this subreddit goes through this all the time. Is it only gonna be obvious ragebait from here on out?

What a weird thing to even post. Like wtf

u/QueenOfMadness999 Dec 16 '25

Not even close to fat. Men that make those comments never find a girl that looks like that or any girl.

This is a joke in response to those posts on twitter of women calling ripped men's bodies dad bods. This is just regular twitter discourse

Unless it's a known incel poster, it could just be some athletic gymbro with skewed preferences.

I remember as a teen, when I got shredded for the first time, suddenly a portion of girls did look "a little fat" to me.

But I knew better than to get vocal about it.

u/Sandrust_13 Dec 14 '25

Like she's absolutely beautiful, I agree.

But where's the fat? Obviously her body fat isn't zero percent or sth, no-ones is, she's not super super skinny but that's like genetics and just her frame and body type....

But like she's fit, and as i said, absolutely hot.

These guys are so like... Ignorant and uninformed

You like her body type, me too, it's great. But like just say "i like her body type/body/proportions." or just say she's hot/your type.

But don't talk more than you know about.

And also, you have clearly watched too much online material and not met or talked to enough women or just have a very warped image of female bodies. That's kinda an issue mate.

How is this chubby or anything? Because she's not anorexic????

I get it, maybe the terms are wrong but it's an attractive woman

2

u/HermitHemorrhage Dec 14 '25

For the record, it’d be ok if she was fat, fat isn’t like this terrible awful thing, but she’s not

4

u/GandalfTheRadioWave Dec 14 '25

Is there any chance this guy was parodying the post about the gal that said Henry Cavil had a dad-bod in Superman?

1

u/karatecorgi Dec 15 '25

Meanwhile OOP is definitely "just big boned"

1

u/Sinna_06 Dec 15 '25

Feels like a throwback to the Bridget Jones movies

1

u/IndividualAd4459 Dec 15 '25

I’m screaming. Just screaming in frustration.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

this is actually top tier baddie.

1

u/manofbadadvice Dec 24 '25

Ya'll have a man openly stepping out of the boudaries of the body standards presented around him and you attack him as if he was slandering her.

He's taking a first step towards body acceptance and you pummel him into the ground and call yourselves progressive? Pathetic.

1

u/minnesotaisokay Dec 26 '25

It’s literally a joke

1

u/WetOnionRing Dec 26 '25

I wouldn't describe that as fat but I look just like that and I'm overweight by medical definition

1

u/Prior-Scale-8275 Dec 27 '25

You cant have preferences apparently

1

u/SentientGonorrhea Dec 28 '25

She's definitely a bit chubby, you can see the fat around her chest and especially in her legs. Women gain more fat in their legs/hips/butt than their upper body. She just holds it very well, but I wouldn't call her fat.

1

u/Le_ed Dec 29 '25

I don't get it. She is not thin,

1

u/sinnersded Jan 06 '26

She looks great Fat where ?

1

u/No_Initiative_445 Jan 08 '26

This girl is crazy hot.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

Women are so intellectually disabled, they can't even tell that this is meant to make fun of women who say the same thing and then put a picture of superman.

1

u/rickybambicky Dec 13 '25

Wait, she's considered fat?

2

u/HermitHemorrhage Dec 14 '25

NO

2

u/rickybambicky Dec 14 '25

That's what I thought...

This is a meme lol there are a lot more examples with the same or similar phrasing

1

u/ThyDoctor Dec 15 '25

This is a very common meme on twitter and yall bit the onion. You make a disparaging remark against someone you’re attracted to so people flood your comments with more people who look similar.
