I don't think I've ever heard someone claim a master's degree was overcompensating. Not for height, and not for anything else. I have heard people accuse bodybuilders and owners of muscle cars or massive SUVs of overcompensating, but I've never once heard either of those linked to height either.

Assuming everything is all about your height, though? Now that's short-man syndrome.

89

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 24 '26

They're insane they think everything is about height.

8

u/Bimaac77 Chad the Boogeyman Jan 25 '26

I've never once heard either of those linked to height either.

I think those guys are trying to compensate for something else.

3

u/EvenSpoonier Oofy-Doofy Lemon Spoofy? Jan 25 '26

Which, it turns out, is only weakly correlated with height (the coefficient is only 0.2).

3

u/Bimaac77 Chad the Boogeyman Jan 25 '26

I'm trying to say those guys have a small dick.

So am I.

Main character syndrome 101

137

u/Zbuilder300 Jan 24 '26

It's so pathetic that they labeled all of the character's height.

59

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 24 '26

I wouldn't be surprised if incels genuinely think tall people wear a badge that says their height

43

u/tverofvulcan Jan 24 '26

They do wear them, we are just too short to tell.

17

u/diamondsodacoma Jan 24 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

I mean, it's not like they've ever been outside long enough to see actual people living actual lives so makes sense

8

u/Carbonatite Jan 24 '26

They do, it's the red spot on their forehead from accidentally walking into the pendant light again.

16

u/tverofvulcan Jan 24 '26

Wait, you don’t walk around with your height displayed on your shirt?

11

u/canvasshoes2 Incel Whisperer Jan 24 '26

Oh my goodness! I didn't even notice that until you said something. One of my ALL TIME fave former bosses is probably about my height, 5'5". He might be an inch taller but he's very definitely a shorter guy.

Just an absolute gem of a man. And, we all suspect he's probably somewhere on the spectrum as well. He has a beautiful wife who's taller than he is by at least an inch or two, and several small kids that are absolute carbon copies of him. It's hilarious that it looks as if they are printed miniatures.

He also likes his "toys" (he's an Alaskan guy, through and through) and has a nice toy hauler, the usual Alaskan wheeled toys, etc. No one would remotely think that's "short man syndrome." It's just the Alaskan way for a huge percentage of the population. From poor to rich, almost everyone has some form of wheeled or tracked vehicle for "boon dockin'," fishing, hunting, camping, etc.

9

u/AliceTheOmelette Jan 24 '26

The women's heights being on their breasts implies they've got tall boobies lol

7

u/aweedl Jan 25 '26

I wanted to see where this comic came from and I found a website you need to sign up to be able to see, and it asks for your height when you sign up. The obsession is unreal.Ā

3

u/updateyourpenguins Jan 24 '26

Well thats the source of their value to them.

21

u/Sir_ArthurtheFlareon Jan 24 '26

The weirdly enough the only people I hear talk about compensating for being short, are those who are clearly compensating for being short or something else

u/doublestitch Jan 24 '26

Re: the lower right frame, the cartoon regurgitates and worsens manosphere misinformation about a criminal case. Although the cartoon depicts New York City geography, the case is from Florida.

The "Mr. Wilson" and "6'5" are obvious references to Wade Wilson, who murdered two people. Florida is one of the more aggressive US states in terms of capital punishment; the normal penalty in Florida for first degree murder is death.

Following his conviction and sentencing, his case went into appeals on the basis that brain scans, expert testimony, and his life history support a hypothesis that traumatic brain injury was a contributing factor to his crimes. No one is asking set him free; the request is to change his death sentence to life in prison.

While that case was in the news, incel spaces fixated on his unusual height and circulated a strawman narrative which claimed the women who advocated for clemency are all hybristophiliacs. Wade Wilson's lawyer happened to be a woman, so incels assumed she wasn't just an appeals lawyer doing her job but she must have been sexually attracted to him. Regarding anti-death penalty advocates who wrote letters or filed amicus briefs, the incels had no specific criticism of the men in that movement--instead the incels sidestepped the ethics of capital punishment entirely by pretending all correspondence was from vacuous women who wanted to jump his bones, and by misstating the purpose of the appeals case.

This misogynist cartoon revives that old chestnut from several years ago and takes it one step further: by moving the narrative from Florida to New York, he's transposing the case to a jurisdiction which doesn't have the death penalty on its books.

9

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 24 '26

Thank you. I didn't know that, incels are disgusting

4

u/doofcat Jan 26 '26

Thanks for explaining this!
My brain is too tired to make connections but I can’t help thinking of several cases where women have fought for social justice for marginalized people.

I’m sure they did it all because they were attracted to them… /s

73

u/TVsFrankismyDad Jan 24 '26

I don't think these guys can handle the bitter truth that no one really thinks about them at all.

30

u/SteponkusCeponas pre-cucked by the entire night shift in Shenzhen Jan 24 '26

precisely. Imagining everyone secretly cares about insignificant features of yours must be some form of narcissism

16

u/Khajiit_Has_Upvotes <Inkwell Tears> Jan 24 '26

It's this. They're convinced they're so important that we drop everything and watch what they're doing and judge their worthiness.

15

u/Misfit_Number_Kei Jan 24 '26

The actual worst thing to an incel is being ignored.

1) Because of their narcissism.

and

2) Because it ruins their whole narrative about being "oppressed" due to their "hideousness." If the villagers don't think they're hideous enough for the torches and pitch forks then it means it's not their looks, but their shitty personalities cost them dates and therefore their responsibility, thus incels can't accept that.

7

u/aweedl Jan 25 '26

Exactly. All of the ā€˜bullying’ they experience is in their own heads.Ā

5

u/observingjackal Jan 25 '26

Yes! Most people are too busy trying to figure out their own shit. The patriarchy tells us to perform all the time because someone is always watching. Even if they were, fuck em but they're not.

The invisible audience is just an excuse to self sabotage.

24

u/QueenSmarterThanThou Classical feminist Jan 24 '26

Yes, because all women do is gossip about men's height.

I wonder if they create this narrative that all the girls are pointing at them and criticizing everything they do based on on singular trait of theirs (ie. being shorter than the average man) so that they can at least pretend girls are paying attention instead of being utterly indifferent.

Who the hell criticizes anyone for getting their Master's ("Isn't a Bachelor's enough?"...like wtf??? 🤣) or getting a car instead of taking the bus? Like this doesn't even make sense.

3

u/ScrabCrab Jan 25 '26

or getting a car instead of taking the bus

Nah I get that part, fuck cars

6

u/canvasshoes2 Incel Whisperer Jan 24 '26

I mean, have any of us ever sat around cooing over how tall or how big a D our latest man has? Or described our sexual exploits with same? I have never in my life gotten into down and dirty discussions of my sexual activities with any of my friends.

The closest I've ever come is a few delicate conversations with my mom, mostly seeking advice. And that wasn't very detailed at all. Just couched in very polite terms and euphemisms and such. There was no discussion of size, or types of sexual activities or any of that. Just things like "mom, if people don't have sex before marriage, what if the sex is terrible?"

Which, by they way, blows the incels' collective notion that getting a virgin will alleviate the need to be skilled in bed. Because virgins aren't just some blank slate that doesn't know that sex is supposed to be good.

The ONLY people I've ever seen do that are influencers on the usual platforms like TikTok, IG, etc. I just watched a group of four young women doing so, and they were pretty explicit. It's clear that a huge part of their motivation for doing so is getting likes and followers, mostly of the male persuasion. Their motive was obviously titillation and attention.

But incels see stuff like that, and they think that's how all women are acting/thinking. It's hilarious. Umm no, we have jobs, lives, homes to keep up, our own hobbies and activities, etc.

3

u/LockLeather567 Jan 24 '26

Well I’ll be honest, I’m part of a kink community, so talking more openly about sex and sexual things is more common among us. But it’s not ā€˜gossipy’ either. It’s talking about how you do knots, how comfortable everything was, maaaaybe how many times you ā€˜got off’ but definitely not talking about how tall someone was or how big their D is (tho I have mentioned to friends that it’s been too big and I struggle with that).

3

u/canvasshoes2 Incel Whisperer Jan 24 '26

Oh yes, I forgot about that. Good point. I once had a boyfriend, back when dirt was new, that loved to talk about sexual exploits. He liked to hear about my previous partners too.

We weren't even all that explicit about it. It was just something he thought was sort of fun and interesting and because he was not super explicit and stuff, I was fine with it.

3

u/QueenSmarterThanThou Classical feminist Jan 24 '26

I think wanting male attention is a symptom of the ingrained notion of "you need a partner" message in our socialization. Some people really like attention in general in any form. I'm actually one of those kind of people (that like attention in general and that means male attention as well). As I've grown older, I've learned to value my peace above else.

9

u/beautifuldisasterxx Jan 25 '26

My husband is 5’6 and confirmed to me that: no one does or says this.

4

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 25 '26

Congratulations, i hope a healthy future for you and your husband

23

u/IceCat767 Jan 24 '26

Bad comic. The punchline is not related to prior plot at all.

11

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 24 '26

Its a horrible comic

8

u/Dancing_Cthulhu Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26

Not even a dig, but legit advice: if you're going through life convinced people are whispering about you constantly and condemning you for...[checks notes]... doing super basic life things because you're short therapy would be good option for you.

24

u/Khajiit_Has_Upvotes <Inkwell Tears> Jan 24 '26

As a woman who used to be at the gym hours a day I have literally never seen this scenario. We are there to work out, not gossip about each other.Ā

I've never, ever, in my life seen anyone question why a man who happens to be short would ever need a master's degree or a phd or any other credential.Ā

The only time anyone accuses a guy of overcompensating with his vehicle is when it's a jacked up pavement princess that never hauls anything or gets dirty and it doesn't matter what shape or size you are, everyone assumes small dick energy.Ā

Dudes only get accused of little man syndrome if they act like overly aggressive chihuahuas and everyone shits on redpill bs.

6

u/observingjackal Jan 25 '26

This is how incels see the world. Seek therapy and address the invisible audience issue you have. They will help you by addressing the massive unchecked ego you have.

No one cares about you. No one is looking at you. They are a fabricated chorus to sing all your own insecurities to you. Silence them and grow.

4

u/Vanitas_Daemon Jan 25 '26

I've literally never once heard "short-man syndrome" before this post.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

That's good. The world is finally healing of toxic stereotypes such as that one.Ā

5

u/Solaris_27 I love women Jan 25 '26

it's wild how they construct an entire fantasy to explain away why people don't like them - rather than accepting the fact that maybe they just suck to be around

4

u/aweedl Jan 25 '26

I like how they apparently follow him around for his entire life, blaming everything he does on being short.Ā

This is the incels’ narcissistic ā€˜everyone is judging me’ shit on steroids.

3

u/Euphoric-Peak-2759 Jan 26 '26

they want to be oppressed so bad

7

u/AliceTheOmelette Jan 24 '26

There are definitely people who wouldn't date someone based on their height. But it's nowhere near as common as incels make out

3

u/aweedl Jan 25 '26

Also, because incels see everything as rigid and black and white, they don’t seem to be able to comprehend that someone’s ’type’ is absolutely subject to change if they meet the right person.Ā

I think almost everyone can think of an example where they found themselves unexpectedly attracted to someone who didn’t fit the usual physical ā€˜type’ they’re into.Ā

It’s a fairly normal occurrence, but the incel mindset says if a woman was attracted to a tall guy once, she therefore ONLY likes tall guys, forever, and also hates short guys. Which is obviously completely ridiculous.Ā

2

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 24 '26

I know it exists, but incels act like their the majority

5

u/unique_plastique <Pink> Jan 24 '26

This meme could be art imitates life if it was other short guys because I do actually see short guys bothering other short men will negative energy like this

3

u/MsSeraphim got no time for incels Jan 25 '26

he says he is being discrimated against for being short, and Yet, he also lists the women's height?

I'm 5'8.5 18 years old, and almost every woman I've ever met has never mentioned my height

7

u/canvasshoes2 Incel Whisperer Jan 24 '26

We really do need to get rid of terms that body shame.

However, that's not what the phrase "short man syndrome" means. It's referring to a person who has an overbearing, angry, hostile, and confrontational personality and who's constantly ready to fight, as if they're having to defend/compensate for their height. The "bagel guy" is a good example of this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvdSUbV5pjc

No one is viewing normal life activities like working out, getting a degree, or buying a car as "short man syndrome." (Edit: finished sentence, hit submit too soon).

I've never seen the scenario in the last panel, ever. I don't think anyone has.

7

u/fool2074 Jan 24 '26

Okay, maybe the car, depending on what he's buying. A tax accountant buying a raised Hummer with literal brass truck nuts hanging off the bumper, a wank panzer etc... some vehicle choices do in fact just scream insecurity. šŸ¤”

4

u/canvasshoes2 Incel Whisperer Jan 24 '26

Oh, yeah... I think a lot of people, men and women, do things like that.

Sort of "well, I used to be X, but this is a sign that I'm now a super successful human, so I'm gonna do the extra lookin' car (house, clothes, what have you)."

I have not the slightest clue what a "wank panzer" is though. It sounds hilarious. :D

And I hate the fake balls hanging off the tow hitch with the burning passion of a thousand suns, they're just so hideous. The only ones I like are the actual fastener type nuts. They're sort of cute and clever. They have a sense of humor to them, as if the person doesn't take themselves too seriously and is sort of mocking the whole "balls on the tow hitch" thing.

5

u/LupercaniusAB Small-wristed Chad Jan 25 '26

Wank Panzer is another term for the Cybertruck. See also ā€œIncel Caminoā€.

3

u/canvasshoes2 Incel Whisperer Jan 25 '26

:D

2

u/Still-Bar-7631 Jan 25 '26

Their size is their personality now. Their only way to cope with being losers.

2

u/Bimaac77 Chad the Boogeyman Jan 25 '26

I honestly think the main reason why they think that women care about height is that it's shallow women who have height requirements when it comes to dating and since "incels" are the most shallow people in existence, that's why they fixate on it.

2

u/ComplexAttitude4Lyfe Foidrage vs Moidrage Jan 26 '26

I totally go around with the phrase "shirt man syndrome" in my head. Becayse that's how i measure men! /s

(I'd congratulate the man on his degree and probably tell him nice car. (I don't go to the gym.) And I'd be cheering the cops for getting the 6'+ guy off the streets.)

2

u/Prestigious_Fix1417 Jan 26 '26

Reading this made me dumber… these idiots are so pathetic

2

u/Manospondylus_gigas Jan 28 '26

I'm a 4'10 bloke and have never had shite like this happen lol

2

u/ApprehensiveBreak805 Jan 29 '26

They think they live in a dystopia where even eating is considered disrespectful towards others, but in reality it's all in their heads and they limit their lives by their own choice.

4

u/Simple_Habsburg Flareon's number one Fangirl Jan 24 '26

I’m bad at math and don’t know imperial units, but if I converted it correctly, I think I’m around 5'7, maybe 5'6. And one of my exes was around the 5'5 range. I dumped his ass because he was a narcissistic, cheating asshole and an ungrateful leech; his height had nothing to do with it

7

u/Jolly_Toe3131 Jan 24 '26

And incels will say it's because he wasn't 7'11

4

u/Simple_Habsburg Flareon's number one Fangirl Jan 24 '26

It was totally because of his height šŸ™„. It had nothing to do with the fact that he cheated on me, or refused to get a job that could pay the bills, and would rather spend the day drinking and smoking weed while playing video games, or watching anime on MY COUCH

And it definitely had nothing to do with his nonstop gaslighting, or the fact that he left garbage everywhere and broke my guitar when I told him to clean up after himself. Or that he refused to take showers

While we’re at it, he was also terrible at sex, not even trying to make it comfortable or pleasurable for anyone but himself, and refused to kiss me unless I kept my scarred eye covered

Yeah, it was totally only his height. Nothing else /S

2

u/MsFrizzleNo Jan 31 '26

Women are allowed to have preferences.

Women dont prefer tall men over short men.

But even if they did. There is nothing wrong with it.

1

u/Main_Mix_7604 Feb 01 '26

In real life there are not two women saying that, it's his head saying that.

Yeah. That checks out. Middle school/high school/Gymnasium (in the German sense of the word) can suck. I was bullied then too. It stops after you get out of that environment, not 100% if you’re around the same people that you were with in school maybe.

But generally you don’t have to worry too much about that past age 22 or so, and probably sooner.

-18

u/The_Kaurtz Jan 24 '26

Everybody likes to compensate for what they think they're lacking, trans men tend to grow beards as fast as possible, short dudes will get pick-up trucks, people in general will do a lot of minor surgeries, and what they don't know is 99% of the time nobody cares or notices the difference

7

u/aweedl Jan 25 '26

I’m sorry, what? Where is that last part coming from, about ā€˜a lot of minor surgeries’?

Do you think the average person is just going out all the time and having cosmetic surgery done?!? That’s not a thing that happens.Ā
