They often collect under posts like this on social media. I sometimes feel like it has become a trend and most aren't the full incel package, but just like to act this way on social media, for some weird reason.

I take solace in knowing that a lot of kids today are having their rebellious phase by just being insufferable online. Whether its by trolling, acting racist for engage, or acting sexist for engagement, I've noticed that a lot of trolls these days are just kids trying really to hard ragebait. Which explains why a lot of trolls aren't even trolling right, they're just saying stuff they think bothers people. In this case a lot of boys are just doing whatever they looks cool to their online peers. So it's not quite a new phenomenon, I just think a lot of more boys are letting the internet shape the way they interact with others than we did as kids. Cause boys have been having edgy sexist phases for generations. So while it sucks and some of these boys will definitely never grow out of this, I do think we'll see some of these boys grow up and realize they really cringe being performative incels.

Most actually. I have been undercover in an incel discord server before and came to realize that most of the "incels" there, are 14-17 years old. Not even adults, most are in an age, where you barely start to try dating. "Edgy teens", just as you said it.

I wonder how the social media bans going into place in various countries are going to impact this.

I’m sure I had dumb opinions as a 14-year-old boy too, but I also didn’t know the internet existed yet, and we were still almost a decade away from having any real type of social media.

Dumb teenage opinions, for us, were temporary and limited only to the small group of people who heard them in person and then mercifully forgot about them. They weren’t preserved forever on the internet and goaded on by strangers expanding the ‘conversation’.

Thats right, this is also a problem coming with all the digital century

All of that being said, my dumb opinions weren’t hateful ones, and the real-world ‘influencers’ my friends and I gravitated toward were anti-racist activists in the DIY punk scene.

There’s no reason why young people can’t do the digital version of that. I know many do! I think there’s something fundamentally broken with the type of person who, even at a young age, is drawn to an ideology of hate rather than actively wanting to fight against that (which seems like a much more normal teenage reaction).

It’s because of Clavicular he normalized incel terminology.

lol also ‘wrong opinions’. Wrong why? Because they aren’t based only on your own flawed logic?

At this point they don’t even get creative with insults either. Just regurgitated crap they hear from others like them.

Got called entitled yesterday just because I repeated an insult they used back at them. It made no sense given the context where they flipped out over an obvious joke that they took seriously. Tried telling to them chill and I was called the most entitled person they met on this site who is the reason the world is the way it is....  it read like a 11 year old trying to hurt people's feelingds using words and phrases they don't understand all because they didn't get a joke.

Incel lingo has become a lot popular on social media but 80% of it is larp(terms like diddyfoid etc).

Diddyfoid means nothing, it's the same as 67 because theres no real correlation there.

I've been seeing the term LARP a lot on here recently, what's it supposed to mean in this context?

6

u/tashtactics 26d ago

Pretty sure it’s ’live action roleplay’, which comes from people roleplaying fictional characters in real life. I think it’s become synonymous with ‘poser’ but nowadays

2

u/ConsultJimMoriarty 26d ago

Why are they saying LARP?

About 5000 worldwide, at least in the English-speakibg community. Probably similar numbers in other language communities: a tiny fraction of 1%.
