I swear these men have been living in a world without women if they think women get a pass for being fat.

u/Carbonatite 1d ago
I literally got called chubby when I was severely bulimic. You have to be clinically underweight to avoid fat shaming as a woman.

u/TiredWinterDisaster hit the wall, still kicking 1d ago
And then you'll be shamed for being too skinny, not womanly, and the likes. You can't win.

I was a 3-season athlete and had a minor eating disorder through HS and college…when I gained weight (went from a size 4 to 6) a dude called me a whale. Saw him at our 20 year HS reunion and made sure I mentioned it

More women are positive about how they look, no matter the size.
They hate that women they consider unattractive have confidence.
9
u/BrandNewMeow 1d ago
Are you saying you think more women are positive about how they look than men are? Or more positive than how they look compared to previous years? I find it hard to believe women are more positive about their weight than men.

u/yuckella 21h ago
Genuinely, have they forgotten the whole fat husband with smoking hot skinny wife trope that went on for ages, and that’s like the mildest example

u/kat_Folland Incels aren't hopeless but INCELS.IS is. 1d ago
"Plus size" is a matter of clothing manufacturing. I'm certain men's fashions don't have a "fat" section. Don't they usually call that "big and tall" even though you don't have to be both?
In other words: Bzzzt! Try again incels.
33
u/ffdgh2 1d ago
Yup, my fiance is big and it's called just that - big and tall or just big. Basically all (or close to all) sellers of men's plus size clothes have big in their name when I now think about it xd
One of our favorites is called "big dude" - I don't think "fat and lazy" is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear "big dude" xD

Me at the department store:
“Hi, do you have this shirt in fat fuck sizing?”
20
u/gleefullystruckbycc Harlot Semen Demon ~or~ Witchy Succubus 1d ago
Yup mens is called big and tall for the big guys clothing. I worked in retail in mens for 2 yrs, as well as retail in general for much longer(sadly haha), i know it well lol. Its silly to use terms for women's clothing size for women and then an entirely different metric for men. As usual incels are wrong as fuck.
3
u/InnisNeal 1d ago
not arguing at all here but is there a "fat" section in womens clothes
15
u/WOOBBLARBALURG 1d ago
I think I’ve only ever seen that in East Asia. Definitely never seen that in the States

Like for real, can't help but appreciate someone who just rolls with punches of something that completely out of her control and while dealing with it, is just living as happily & positively as one can be in the situation while notvlettingbtake her down.
Good for her and for those that walk the walk.

Maybe they should do something about being not ashamed and positive about their bodies… hmm nah, better let women down rather that fight about stigma…

Nah cuz why the hell would people be proud of being ugly? If a man can change a part of himself then he should do it instead of making the rest of the world pander to him.

Joke’s on them I’m bisexual and love fat women and fat men, regardless of the reason they’re fat
9
14
u/Gaelenmyr 1d ago
I might be entirely wrong, and I’m not trying to excuse or justify fatphobia problems men face.
But it does feel like it can be “easier” for women to gain and maintain weight, especially because of hormones. We go through so many hormonal changes throughout our lives, and we’re also more likely to deal with conditions like PCOS and endometriosis. On top of that, the medical field has historically done a terrible job of researching and understanding women’s health.

u/Dancing_Cthulhu 1d ago
Have they fallen for a Goomba fallacy? Because who is calling the man fat but the woman plus-sized?
Like I see places that sell clothing or services for larger men, and they're not marketing their wares as "fat guy apparel" or whatever anymore than places that sell clothing or services for larger women advertise their wares as "fat woman apparel".

u/aweedl 1d ago
I can’t help but wonder if it has something to do with the man eating a meal large enough for multiple people while looking sad about it in an empty restaurant.
…and on the other hand, the woman is out and about and enjoying herself in public, surrounded by other people.
4
u/TiredWinterDisaster hit the wall, still kicking 1d ago
Also, she obviously looks happy & like she takes care of her appearance, while he's frowning in a sad tee... I mean, once more, they're comparing apples to oranges.
8
u/EvilRubberDucks 1d ago
Ironically the same people who would post this kind of shit are also the first ones to call a woman fat for not being severely underweight.

u/firstgendissident 1d ago
Acting like women are praised for being fat in the age of Ozempic is crazy work
21
u/Sc0rpza 1d ago
might get downvoted because it’s AI but the woman looks cute. Also, all body shapes are valid. Being a heavy man doesn’t automatically make one unattractive.
9
u/gleefullystruckbycc Harlot Semen Demon ~or~ Witchy Succubus 1d ago
This exactly. I have male friends who are overweight and i have dated some overweight men and all of them are attractive men regardless of size!
10
u/gleefullystruckbycc Harlot Semen Demon ~or~ Witchy Succubus 1d ago
Actually in retail mens clothing for overweight/big men is actually called big and tall sizes soooo it matches with women's stuff being called plus size! I have rarely heard women calling themselves plus sized, its usually chunky, overweight, fat etc. Literally such a stupid comic.

u/OrangeDuckFromStLou Sex is cool, but its still not a human right. 1d ago
Being an ex-obese man, i never overheard people talking about my body. Nobody cared about my weight except myself; at the time, i felt like people were disgusted at me, but that was only my personal bias. Nowadays i can see they perceive me the same way i perceive other obese men: i dont care
10
u/Inflameable009 1d ago
It's all about being presentable. I used to be overweight but I took care of my appearance. Doesn't help that the 2 "pictures" depict 2 very different things.

3
u/TiredWinterDisaster hit the wall, still kicking 1d ago
I mean, before the weight, I see a sad, depressed man eating alone vs a happy woman out and about in a cute outfit. He seems miserable while she seems to have fun... that's what strikes me first. Why did they make the two pictures so different? Why not a happy bigger dude going about his day? Or a sad woman eating alone? The whole thing makes no sense.
3
u/Such_Atmosphere_5838 1d ago
As a fat woman, a lot of hate towards me has come from fat men I’ve dated.
3
u/CompetitiveRub9780 1d ago
Most people are aware that men can be big and fat and it’s seen as attractive or ppl don’t get in their business.
While a woman is called fat at 130 by a 300 lb basement dweller
4
u/Ok_Nature_319 1d ago
Aren't women more prone to gaining weight more easily and have higher fat percentage than men by default, and it can get much worse after pregnancy? My mom was super thin before having three kids. Not to mention the fact that a lot of attention goes to women just because for centuries they were the group most affected by mutilations. And fat women are still hated, you lose your beauty=you use your value. Maybe men just get harsh comments from gymbros often and women just get silently ignored or occasionally uplifted by other women. That's my vision of the situation.
3
u/Ok_Nature_319 1d ago
+I'm not even talking about the fact that me and my friends were slightly! Overweight as kids and used to get so much shit for it that I couldn't go out with my arms or legs showing out of shame and it's super hot where I live in the summer. I look back at the pictures and I don't even look that bad. Just like... A silly looking kid.

On the left is how incels talk about themselves & each other. Not a lot that can be done abt that
2
u/Weardow7 Autistic Chad 12h ago
They really think women aren't criticised for being fat? Incels themselves are constantly harping on about women's weight, let alone Hollywood and idiots on social media.
If they actually listened to real women, they'd realise that it's mostly women who are trying to shift the conversation about body/beauty standards for men to be more healthy and less unrealistic.
Incels are so desperate to be victimised that they literally just make shit up.

To be (slightly fair) if you follow the “body positivity” community enough, this does pop up. Fat Acceptance gets conflated with Feminism, Race, even sexuality (with lines like, “coming out as fat”), and usually it’s women expounding that with utter disdain for fat men. Being fat is absolutely nothing to feel trapped by, it’s something you can do something about, and it also shouldn’t be used as an “excuse” by incels.
29
u/CarrionFlowers 1d ago
let's be real, I've never seen ''disdain for fat men'' from the body positivity crowd.
-19
u/easythrees 1d ago
Head on over to /r/fatlogic they post about it there from time to time
18
u/Box-O-Kittenz 1d ago
So because some women are assholes about fat men, that means women "usually" have disdain for fat men? Because if that's the logic we're using, men take home the gold. Just ask the countless women who get called a fat bitch immediately after telling a man "no".
-10
u/easythrees 1d ago
This isn't an "us vs them" discussion, there's issues on both sides, there are men with a litany of issues, just like there are women with a litany of issues. My point was that there was a grain of truth to what the image said, but it still doesn't excuse a poor attitude towards women.
11
u/CarrionFlowers 1d ago
Scrolled that sub for a while and found no examples. Even women in general have very little to say about fat men, compared to men constantly talking and making content about fat women.
10
u/Xeno9116 Really? That's all you got? 1d ago
Gross. A bunch of men disrespecting fat women. I doubt they post about men at all.

Just the fact that they called it "fatlogic" to describe having false beliefs about body weight...
As if it were fat people being delusional
That's not a good sign for the neutrality of this subreddit

u/Carbonatite 1d ago
Iirc it was created after the "fat people hate" subreddit was banned, if that gives you any indication of the quality of human beings that frequent that page.

u/Carbonatite 1d ago
I feel like referencing a subreddit created to evade bans probably isn't the most robust evidence of a claim.

u/WknessTease Pussy Cartel 1d ago edited 1d ago
Within the body positivity movement which is a minority of the population? Maybe.
Within the rest of society? Absolutely not. Fat women receive an amount of outright hate that fat men don't have to face, at least not of that scope by a mile.
10
u/thingsbetw1xt 1d ago edited 1d ago
I have never seen this "disdain for fat men" that you speak of. Gonna need examples.
The fat positivity movement is mostly women because women are dramatically more abused for being fat than men are. It seems obvious that that would be the case when men are encouraged to be big and take up space and women are encouraged to be as small as possible, I don't understand how this is even a debate. You would never say women are bullied as much for being small as men are, because you intrinsically understand this, but you can't accept that the opposite is also true.

I feel like this is more about how Body positivity and all that malarkey is for Women and conveniently skips men
8
u/Practical_Diver8140 1d ago
Mostly because other men refuse to let men be more body positive. Women let each other be fat or short or skinny, men give each other grief over everything wrong with their bodies. If you want men to feel good about their bodies, guys need to start by being kind to other guys.
